i wouldn't.. your clothes can irritate it and the sweat might not be good for it.

Personally, I'd wait, and for a couple of reasons:

It's an open wound the first day or so. Gyms tend to be not precisely the most hygienic places, and if you're sweating a lot you're giving the friendly little microbes lots of medium to play in.

As I understand it, sweating with a new tattoo isn't good for the ink; I don't know if it would make it spotty, but it's a risk I wouldn't take.

The area is still sensitive, and depending on where it is you might not be able to keep your gym clothes from rubbing against and irritating the area.

If you could deal with all of the above, at least in theory you could go to the gym. However, barring lots of work poorly spaced for maintaining a good schedule (like I've done, st00pid me), it's not that much off of your schedule. Wait until the shedding & such are done, which can be as little as just over a week to as much as 3 weeks.

I heal moderately quickly, and the worst case for me was just about 2 weeks out of the gym.

You need to wait at least a week. A tattoo is an open wound. You don't want to infect it. Even in the second week be careful because it will start to scab and flake. Just don't hit it on anything.

I think you're REQUIRED to go to the gym after getting a tattoo.

How else are you gonna show it off to all the other knuckle-heads?

it depends on where the tattoo is, if it is somewhere that would get irritate...if your clothes would rub on it or something i would wait untill it heals. but if its not gonna streach or get bumped, rubbed or anything, just be careful with it and you should be fine going to the gym

I would not advise it................your heart will be pumping more,
and with a fresh tat, that will cut down on the healing. It would
be better to wait at least a week.

YOU may have to go in for an amputation after your limb starts to rot. Hope this helps.
