Where are you going along the gulf? Florida has tons of things and if you are near Tampa the choices are limitless. Mississippi if you are into architecture, I believe its Nash? Thats a beautiful area.
Galveston is beautiful!
You could go out in the gulf as well. What interests you? Learn to windsurf. Go Deep sea fishing. What would interest you when you are normally on vacation?
