My doctor says he's afraid I'm getting addicted, but I just wanna go through the day without pain. (tendonitis-elbows, partially torn rotator cuff-shoulder)

If your rotator cuff is torn it can be managed by cortisone shots. But surgery is probably indicated. I tore mine and once it was repaired...no need for painkillers.

Yes, if you really hurt you should treat the pain but if you have a partially torn rotator cuff then you may need surgical intervention. And the real question is are you a boozer? Then you are already ineffectively coping with life using pain pills in the type of pain you are having may lead to an addiction. Have you taken ibuprofen? There are some drugs that work really well that are not addictive. Have you tried Tramidol? What about asking your doctor to figure out a way to treat your pain effectively with you what ever that would take?

Well here is the issue... once you take pain pills long enough your brain decreases the natural chemicals that control how sensitive your nerve pain response is, thus depending on the medication. you should always slowly decrease pain meds to balance this process. If you just take it away its like opening a flood gate and then your brain trying to build a dam. Let the water flow slowly and you have time to build the dam.

I was in the same shape......i was taking them all the time, but the pain was still there, Someone told me to just stop taking them, and I did, within 3 days the pain was much much better, and within a week it was almost gone.

Its hard to take your question seriously with a screen name like Boozer. You can become easily addicted to pain pills and you are best to listen to and take your doctors advice.

well, i agree with a screenname like that it doesn't really sound like you care....but....yes, you will get addicted if you keep taking them so regularly - i've seen it happen to really good people and the effects are devastating. Try alternatives like physical therapy, raki, massages, etc. (still take a pill if the pain is UNBEARABLE)
