I've been contemplating a move to a different state so I mentioned it to my pastor yesterday. He wasn't too keen on the idea for various reasons, but he said it was ultimately my decision. I had my heart set on moving regardless in a few months. Well, today a headhunter called me out of the blue (I've been looking for a new job for a couple of years, but a headhunter has never called me) and asked if I would consider a pretty good job in the current state I'm in. I said I'd look into it so I have an interview next week. Nothing is final yet, but if God really wanted someone to stay, might it look like this or do you think it's just a coincidence?

The other weird thing is that the new job is very close to my church.

That's a bit of a tough question...sometimes the thought of starting somewhere and being a part of something new is exciting and we can convince ourselves that its what the Lord Will want too.. since it fits into what we want for ourselves...
Then again...who knows if the Lord wants you to stay in this current State. I guess if you are established in your local church it will be a good thing to continue to grow and develop and function there...but stepping into something that u do not know is always tricky... things like where will u meet for church...how will your family deal with the move...

There is this brother who attends my church who is an engineer and moved far away from all of us to work there for the past 9 years or so... He loves the Lord dearly but somehow work and position seemed to take first place. For him to meet for church on Sundays was a 3 hour drive back and forth, but for the sake of the rich truth and the depth of the sharing where we meet.. he was willing to commute. We did not know how to pray regarding our brother's situation ... he is a brother with some kind of responsible function where we meet but because of distance he is not able to function to any kind of capacity and it falls on the others here to pick up the slack...
We prayed and kept bringing it before the Lord..Just leaving it open to His Will for our brother..not our own choices.. since left up to us we'd all pray that he'd move the next day:)

Six months ago this brother got laid off from his job and i personally thought he'd move closer and seek employment here but still.. our brother is stubborn .. and will not move...he is still seeking after Himself first and what He wants... I just find it sad since time is going and he is there and we are here and the Lord's work is left up to so few when it can be properly done with so many more.

Our brother is presently in Africa seeking some kind of avenue for his skills in engineering and for weeks his family has not been meeting...
I am just surprised that after all this time.. the job still meant more to him than the Lord...
we can say that we love the Lord..but if our actions are just opposite to that love then it tells a lot

All i can tell you brother is to seek the Lord... open your heart to Him and leave your prayers open-ended...if the Lord wants this job for you He will provide the means.. if not then He will provide something else for you... THe Bottom line is.. Whatever it is.. should bring you close to the Lord and not be something that He has to compete with ....

It is possible that God could want you to stay. However, the only person who can really answer the question is you. God is not a far away person who we do not have access to. I encourage you to ask God what this new position means and ask for what He is doing in this situation. Anyone can tell you their opinion on a situation, but God knows. Go to the source. That is like me asking where to get the best peaches from and I go to an apple farmer. So that is my advice, under wisdom to share. God will let you know.

I, nor anyone else could tell you how god works. This is the creator of the universe and we cant even treat each other or our environment properly. They say everything happens for a reason and god works in mysterious ways. Whatever decision you make I wish you good luck.

Let's see. Which sounds more like it comes from God. Life events out of the blue or the wishes of the Pastor?

I doubt any human contemplate the way God works. In order to understand that we would have to understand God or at least te very nature of creation. Its impossible to nail down a good answer fr that because there is no possible way to express it.

One of my friends had been prayibg alot asking God if she should take this job then after she'd been praying for a few weeks her husband got orders for them to PCS. She said that was a definate "no" from God about her job. I think this is the same thing and that this is God's way of telling you to stay where you are...at least for now. Hope I helped!

Instead of asking yahoo or the people on here why not ask G-D. He knows what HE wants for you. WHat is a headhunter?

You do what is best for you, after taking into consideration all the facts about what would work about moving, and what wouldn't. If the facts show that it would be beneficial to you to move, then do it. Forget the pastor, he has no clue what is best for you and your life, only YOU do.

God always shuts one door, but will open another. Did you pray and ask him about it? The thing you should know is that the right decesion you will be at peace about. But most of all pray!
