ok, my dog, i will idmit, is a mutt! I love her to death though, shes soo sweet,! She is probably around 4, or 5 years old, and has had miraculas health so far! But sence we got dixie and she had her pups, skip , the other dog, has been getting less attencion. I still play with her in the yard all the time, and yes, shes got her tail kicked by dixie waay too many times, Theres been around 5 dog fights between them, so now we keep dixie on the porch and skip in the yard, and yes skip has a dog house and food and water all the time! Anyway, we was playing with skip yesterday and i stared to pet her on her left side about where her ribs are and i felt like a knot on her! I looked at it, but she was soo hyped up from getting this much attencion that she could hardly hold still, it was about the side of a 13 year old girls balled up fist. We were really worried about her, but shes black, so i couldnt really see it good, My dad said he thought like a snake or somthing had bitten her, but...

but...thats not what i thought! Its waay to big to be a snake bite wound! thats what i think at least, its about 1 1/2 to 2 inches swelled UP. And i thought it was like a tumer, or something, but i dont know anything about none of that junk, so i went out into the yard andd hollered at her to see if she ws limping or anything, but shes fine with walking and runing, and everything! even still digging in the yard, its been at least 2 days sence its been there, and i was wondering is you have any cluses on what it could be or, how long we should wait, to see if it gets better, before we take her to the vet, cause we dont want to if we dont have to. You see, we're running a lil low on the $$. lol, so if you have any info please help!

Please take her to the vet. It could any number of things.

It could be that if there was a dog fight recently that she got a wound and it's possibly infected....

It's a good sign that she is acting normally, but honestly she needs some care from a professional. This is not normal for a dog.

An OLDER mutt from the Pound- are not getting a domestic dog! Get a dogs a minimum of three years old. your babies are too youthful to handle a domestic dog biting, and peeing, and annoying plenty interest. get a solid, calm, housebroken puppy that replaced into with a relatives- a golden is often an dazzling decision, as is any blend of Sheepdog, lab, beagle, and so on. The pound animals are greater effective because of the fact mixes tend to have greater effective genes and personalities than organic breeds, as nicely as helping decrease the homeless animal inhabitants. Ask for a dogs that has been around babies and has a calm, elementary temper. solid luck! your babies will cherish the adventure of starting to be up with a solid doggie buddy!

Hey.

My dog had the exact same thing about a couple of weeks ago I was so worried and thought it was bad, but my dad told me not to worry and that it was nothing. I did listen to him since he's a greyhound trainer and has had a lot experience with things like this.

She was fine in the end and is quite healthy for a 13 year old. I suggest you take her to the vet if she gets any worse or has any bad side effects. She sounds alright to me though, being active and all.

See we are running a lil low on $$ LOL

You have to be kidding me

your dog had puppies, where did that money go?

She has a large injury (the size of a fist), you can't spell worth a poo, you have no money, your dogs stay outside all the time, you have to keep them separated from one another

Your male dog skip probably isn't fixed, your female dog probably isn't fixed.

Again, you have no money and LAUGH about it. Like ha ha, silly Yahoo people, I don't have the money to take care of my dog.

Take her to the vet and get the money. Lord knows, you do have it, you all would just rather spend it on something else.

If you don't have the money to find out what is wrong with your dog, then take your dogs to the Humane Society so that they can have a home where they are loved AND taken care of.

Gee, everyone is low on money, but when it comes to your pets, you have a responsibility to do the right thing and provide proper vet care and medical attention when necessary. It could be any thing, it could be an absess from fighting with your other dog.. In which case it's a horrible infection and you aren't doing her any good leaving her to wait and see what developes. Course she got stuck out in the back yard, rather than encouraging the 2 to get along... So I guess that's why she has to do without... :(

Still playing or not, bring her to the vet! Sometimes, you can't tell just by how your dog is behaving. But if you still want an alternative, try keyword search: veterinarians online, vet help, vet answers, etc... this way you can ask the questions directly to a vet (find a trusted site.) Does your local vet charge for a phone in question?

Teh best thing is to have her checked by a vet. If it's an abcess that big it could spread infection to the blood stream or it could be a tumor.
YOur vet would know best.
Good luck

it could be lots of thing. take her to the vets.

as its been said, it could be from the dog fights.

look for puncture marks, it could be an abscess which may need to be drained.

it also be a tumor/cancerous which is why it is vital u take her to the vets

it could be sumthing simple as a benign or cyst or fatty lumps, which can just be removved under anaesthetic
