Every creature on earth evolved from the same micro organism. We did not evolve from apes, apes and us evolved from the same thing, as in the same branch. We share about 98% of our genetics with chimpanzees

From innocence to intelligence. From ignorance to knowledge. From ugly monkey looking forest tree living man
to a city dwelling modern human evolving further probably to another ugly looking huge head, wide eyed, short and frail body with super intelligent mind.

Our closest link is chimps. But we didn't evolve FROM them. We and chimps both evolved from a very early life form that was neither human nor chimp. It was a more primitive version of both. That life form, as it started to evolve, branched off. One branch eventually evolved into chimps, the other branch eventually evolved into humans.

Eachother. Species differentiation is defined where two animals can reproduce viable offspring. But it is not a clear line. Ligers, for example, blur the species line. They are born sterile, so tigers and lions are considered different species, but it shows the grey area. As humans developed they interbred with Neandertals quite a bit. My point is that there is also genetic variation within a "species," we are not all the same, even though we can produce viable offspring.

Our closest cousins are "chimps". We didn't evolve from them.
Just think we shared a great-great-great- grandparent at one time, that was neither chimp nor human, but did belong to the Primate family.

How far do you want to go back?
It can be reasonably claimed that all species, including our own, came from the sea. So it can be said that we all may come from sea-dwelling animals.

Why do you assume that Atheists have all the answers? Just because Theists have the arrogance to think their one book contains all the knowledge of the universe, please don't think Atheists are that stupid, we are individuals with differing views and levels of knowledge.
If you really want to know why not just go to Wiki, or Google it.
