hello folk, (excuse my bad English)
--
I've a dodge stratus (1996-2.5L), he has a whim.
Starts and run so good, but when I am in the road >
> suddenly the motor stops! >> now.., without steering and brake!.
(It generates fear to me)
--
Apparently something becomes disconnected (electrical), and stop everything…
I already had listened 'Dodge has electrical defects',
(but I never inmagine a situation so smoothly dangerous)
--
May be - I should need to reset the engine computer or not?
some opinion well will be received, thanks
(excuse my bad English)

to access codes with out special tools turn ignition switch from off to on [do not crank] 3 times and leave in the on position the check engine warning lamp will flash out 2 did git codes. normally starting with code 12 [start of report] and 55[end of report] with the malfunction code[s] in between. do not disconnect the battery as code data will be lost.
if no codes are present suspect a failing fuel pump.
if you have codes besides the 12 and 55 list them on this site and someone will tell you what they mean.

I had the same problem with an 1989 Dodge I had a long time ago. I was driving down the highway and everything just stopped working. I had no power brakes or power steering it was not easy to get the vehicle to stop. I still have nightmares. I remember I had to replace the computer in that car.

Either an electrical or fuel problem.

Bite the bullet, and take it to a Dodge dealer. If it stops while you're pulling out of a junction, could be dangerous.

You need to contact a Dodge dealership because it might be a defective part in which they should replace or fix for you. A recall may have been placed and you not have recieved the warning.

You probable need to reset the EMC,(engine Management Chip). Disconnect the battery for about half a minute, then reconnect it.

By the way remember your radio/head unit code because you will have to re-enter it.

Hope this helps.
