If I come to look at pups, I often look at the male more than the female, especially if I am looking for a male pup. If you try to get her looking good and explain why she looks like that maybe that would help. You could also keep a photo of before the pregnancy to show interested people. Hope this helps!

First hurry and bath all if there is fleas including pup The fleas can feed enough on the pups and can kill them.
Second now is a good time to start getting deposits mother dogs often go through this stage after having pups.
Just explain this to perspective buyers.
Dogs loose a lot of nutrition through the carrying, and nursing pups.
If you have people come to look at the pups explain for the health of the pups they cannot handle the pups ( they can get a lot of the deadly deceases by allowing strangers to handle the pups.
If they don't seem to care then figure they won't make good homes as they already show they don't care for the health of the pups
Also I hope you know that this is a good time to start weaning the pups. Get some good puppy chow and moisten it to a soup like consistency. i find it best to take mom away at night, first thing in the morning give them the food and let them eat for about 20 minutes then let mom nurse them. Waiting the night gets them hungry enough to want to eat.
Good luck

It is normal for mom to lose some hair after whelping. It is called blowing their coat. The pups shouldn't leave for their new homes for about 4 more weeks anyway so I would wait about showing the pups. Start feeding the pups a little soft puppy food. Soak some dry kibble in warm water to soften it. They will start eating and mom will hopefully start putting on some of the weight she lost. You can bathe her now but nothing for fleas yet. Do not put anything on the pups right now for fleas as the previous poster says. They are too young. If you haven't wormed mom and pups, you should do that now. If the fleas are really bad, call the vet and ask him wheat to do for the fleas.

If anybody knows anything about puppies then they will know that mommy is going to be a little ragedy after having pups and they will not worry about that . I usually look at daddy more so than mommy because it will give you some idea of what the pups will look like . good luck .

Females often look a little ragged and are thin and have some hair loss after giving birth. Feed her puppy food and take good care of her. After the pups are weaned, she'll gradually start going back to normal.

Bozema's answer is the correct one. females always look a little worse for the wear after having offspring. this is only temporary. treat her well, and feed her puppy food. she'll look like new in a few weeks.

will there be a point or time in the day when she's not feeding, so maybe you can give her a bath... so atleast you can get started with a bath (check the bottles of the dog wash for any warnings about 'breast feeding' for dogs)
