Usually it is a 2:1 ratio of cups of water:cups of rice if you want steamed rice but if you are like me and don't like steamed rice then add another cup and a half of water and when the rice is cooked, strain it off in a colander (rice strainer).

If cooking for just yourself or a couple of people I suggest you try boiling bag rice. It's more expensive but you can't hurt it! L.O.L.! It is sooo easy! If you do cook regular rice, once you've begun the simmering process, do not touch lid til time to simmer is up, will make rice gummy if you do! Read directions on food packages. Will help you alot! I suggest this site to everyone: www.kraftfoods.com, Theres a section where they show you how to do different things like the basics.

no We make rice on a daily basis. it constantly surprises me to be sure that the rice sits on the backside of the pan. It doesnt flow. besides the shown fact that I honestly have basically cooked eastern rice, tasmati rice, basmati rice, elementary cook dinner rice. since there are over 2 hundred kinds of rice there's a style that does flow. i think of I bear in mind listening to a tale some tribe of south american pygmies. They used rice sacks to make a raft they used to trip to Madagascar.
