If they come out in the middle of the night or in a blizzard or they do something above and beyond or you just feel it's warranted - you can offer it. Some companies have a policy against accepting cash tips though - in which case they'll refuse.

My husband always tips the repair person. Most trades people are not making big bucks. Not only that it is nice to offer them a soda or snack if they are there for any length of time.

absolutely not! He is getting a good paycheck from the company. As opposed to servers who don't so you have to tip them.
