I have one more refill left on my prescription. I JUST started my new insurance policy...i didnt have any before. When I go pick up my last refill can i present my card and get my policys RX discount even though the doc that ordered the prescription is not my primary care doc? I dont see why not.

Probably, but call your insurance company to be sure. They should have a toll free customer service or question line number on your card.

It should work, but you might have to have your doctor call in to verify, depending on what the prescription is.

I just changed jobs (and insurance policies), and while my old insurance approved my prescription without a problem right away, my new policy didn't approve my drugs immediately because they were not on their "first line" list. It required a call in from my doctor to verify that I'd already been on the prescription for several months and it was working for me, and that I'd already tried previous drugs. After they got that call, though, there was no problem.

In view of this, though, make sure you check on this while you still have some left of the old prescription to carry you through for a few days. If that still leaves you short, ask your doctor for samples to fill you in in the interim.

Use your new insurance...

When you are issued a policy, the RX Benefit is not subjected to any Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion.

Yes. Your insurance covers claims that happen during your policy period. If your policy has already started, and you have a claim (perscription purchase), the policy will cover it.

Talk to your agent for more information.

Probably not, I would just get your doctor to write you a new prescription, since you only have one refill left.

As long as the doctor who wrote that prescription participates in your new plan, it won't be a problem.

Yes, but give the pharmacy your new card so they can add it to your file.
