A lot depends on the environment. If you are where its cool you will want the 192. If you are in Arizona you may want the 160.

The rating denotes at what temp the thermostat will open. If your car has a tendency to run very hot (lot of idling in traffic, towing a trailer) you may want a cooler range. But if your car runs too cool it will get poorer gas mileage.

If it was my car in Illinois I would install the 192.

180 should be fine, but you may trigger a check engine light due to the engine never reaching the preprogrammed operating temp.

192 is the stock settings for pretty much everywhere in the USA.

I would take it back, but I run a 160 in my 92 GTI16V 2.0L because I race it and could care less about a check engine light.

Whatever came in it from the factory is what you should replace it with. Engine computers are set for optimal performance determined by many factors including operating temperature. It may run good with any, but it will only run best with the original temp.
