i like this guy since kindergarten what should i do?

well ive known him since kindergarten and i have always liked him i dont think he likes me put hints out there and he still hasnt had the nerve to ask me out. but i know that he definitly likes my friend but idk if he likes me but he does put hints out like what is she doing tonite and things like that. should i ask him out?
