My puppy is 7 months old. Shes been on heartworm pills for a few months now. They are called Invert Plus or something like that haha. Anyways its for heart worms and worms in the tummy.Well I have never seen any worms in her stool since we have begun with the pills. Well today I looked down and she had a piece of worm on her butt!!!!!! Now does this mean she needs to go to the vet again! I mean I thought these pills were suppose to take care of the worms? I dont want to have to take her in if the pill next month will take care of this situation. I think these are called tape worms right? Should I worry or just giver her her pill on the first of the month again and see what happens? Please help me I dont want her to get sick but at the same time this is why i got these pills were to "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" Please help me out ASAP I hope I get lots of answers haha! Oh yeah the pills are for her weight class just in case you wanna know.

Tape worms are different. They require a specific treatment.

What did the "worm on her butt" look like? Hookworms look like spaghetti. Round worms show up as "rice" in the stool. Tape worms are big.

She might just be getting all of the dead worms out. I dont really know too much about worms, but our youngest dog (5 month old female) had some worm problems when we first got her. She has been on worm meds ever sinse and hasnt had another problem, but a while after we gave her her 1st dose of worm meds she pooped out worms! I freaked out thinking she still had a problem, but the vet said that it was just the dead worms comming out. So anyway, like I said, I dont know too much about worms, but thats is what happened to my pup. I would suggest that you mabey call the vet and see what they say. Sorry I couldnt be of more help. I hope everything is fine and good luck! : )

iluvtorofl has got the descriptions of the different worm species muddled up.

Tapeworms look like pieces of rice - this is because the worms shed segments in the faeces. When you see this, there are worms alive and well in your dog's gut.
Roundworms look like spaghetti.

I don't know this specific worming med, so I don't know what type it covers. You need to ask you vet what they cover - if there are any types of worms it doesn't cover (sounds like it) you'll need to get a different worming med to cover this type of worm.
