Absolutely it is in poor taste- don't do it.
If the scholarship is that big a deal, they'll be releasing their own press release, anyway, and it'll have more impact coming from the organization. Your energy is better spent writing a gracious thank you letter to the scholarship donors (always a good thing to do when you've won a scholarship).
(A scholarship thank you letter just tells the donors a little about yourself and how the scholarship will help you, and expresses your sincere, gracious thanks for their generosity.)
Congratulations!

I honestly do not think anyone else would do that for you. Why are you bragging? If you have something to prove then send out a press release when you graduate at the top of your class. Why do you want the world to know?--Oh by the way, you just told the world.

I don't see why you would want to send out a press release. No need to brag. It is enough for you to know that you have achieved something important, no need to tell the world.

yes. the press release should come from the organization. you also already got the scholarship - it serves you no purpose to make that kind of an announcement

Yes, I would spend that energy in a letter thanking the source of your large scholarship instead.

Congratulations!
