soccer ofcourse coz the ground is more bigger and u can run the amount u want, everyone runs the distance appropriate to his fittness.
do u know that some players run about 12 kms a match.

Both will make you lose weight pretty much the same. It is the length of time of play basketball or soccer that matters. And also how you play the game. the more you run the more you will loose weight.

i would say soccer. both sports involve constant running but a soccer field is larger than a basketball court.
