Ganeshaji as 'Vigneshvara'- always removing the obstacles from the path of people and acting for the welfare of the world -'Sakalay Jagathitay' gives us the message of selfless service to our fellow-beings with love and kindness..
He says,'When you have all these qualities,you may be considered 'Sumukha'- lovely,pleasant , you can be a master of 'Riddhi'-material prosperity and of 'Siddhi'-spiritual enlightenment. and then in a true sense, you will be able to enjoy a glorious,blissful life '

I have this lovely sandalwood statue that came from India. It's very small and Ganesha is in the perfectly still seated position. I have it on top of an altar that I use to for yoga dedication and also for daily meditation.

Well, I remember seeing a picture with him next to the goddess Laxmi, it was so decorative and colourful; very pretty.

I don't like the few that show "anger." I find them hard to believe considering the folk lore I read as a kid.
Whenever he's acting like a hungry kid, I'm good to go.
