Where do you see atheists confusing science with atheism?

I think you're wrong. I think you're dumb and stupid.

I think it's the [religious affiliation here] folk that confuse science with atheism. We use science as a tool to refute claims and make points.

I wasn't aware that we did confuse the two. I use science to discredit some religious claims, but atheism is a belief, not a science. The real question is, "Why does anyone think that Creationism is a science?"

You're being very judgmental and I think your question is erroneous. I don't know why the two would be confused? If you're referring to science requiring substantial or empirical evidence then that is one basis that refutes the blind faith many religions require. You see a different perspective might be posited as "Why do religionists tend to confuse religion with science" which makes equal sense.

Science and Atheism are not the same, but often if you are an Atheist then you also believe in Science, you are actually misunderstanding them in that, they believe in both. Also in many ways Atheism and Science go hand in hand.

Good point.

Maybe lack of understanding of what the word "atheism" really means?

I've noticed some of the less educated ones tend to confuse their atheism with that. Anyway, atheism simply means "belief in no god", and has no reference to science at all - they're, in fact, two completely different things altogether.

Thank God I'm a Polytheist. Just to figure out which God to thank for...

Err....we don't. Even if science was totally wrong about everything, I would still be an atheist because it still wouldn't provide evidence that there were a god.

It is Christians that have a problem with science because it proves things in the Bible are wrong.

We don't.

I regularly hear cries of "science is the new religion," but that doesn't even make sense. Science is based on curiosity and investigation. As more discoveries are made, the "wisdom" within science changes. There is no "sacred" doctrine that can never be questioned.

Scientists don't spend all their time defending something that can't be proven, they change what they defend based on empirical evidence.

Science, unlike religion OR atheism, evolves.

Science has always had a reputation of being atheistic. The dark ages didn't help that.
