Supposedly the amount of calories I need to maitain my weight is about 2700. However, I usually only eat somewhere in between 500 and 1500 calories per day. I excersise daily for at least an hour (usually more). I only eat vegatables, fruit and protien. Every now and then I might splurge and have something sweet, but I still try to maintain my calories. I even try to keep sodium out of my diet and drink more water to reduce water weight. But, nonetheless, I have maintained 160 for the past month and I don't understand why I'm not losing weight. Am I doing something wrong? Because I have a goal to lose 20 pounds by the 2nd week in August and I doubt I'll achieve it this way. Any suggestions?

First and foremost you will not lose weight in the first couple of weeks of dieting and excercising. Weight loss is a gradual process and currently the first phase to take place in a new diet/excercise regime is that your fat is turning into toned muscle, which may actually show no weight loss, maybe even a gain.

I'm not sure where you got 2700 calories as your amount to burn, I run 4-6 miles a day and I try to only consume 2200 calories. Definetely do not starve yourself with eating only 500 calories that is not going to help your body to lose and keep weight off it will only temporarily(short-term) show a loss on your scale. Not eating/under nourishment has a servere effect on your body's matabolism and will actually reverse the weight loss process when you return to a regular diet, becuase with 500 calories a day you will have to.

Thirdly always eat breakfast in the morning, it will help the weight loss process more than you can imagine. It will allow you to eat those 5-6 small meals a day without overdloading at any one specific time and gives your body the energy it needs to burn for the day. Also when you are getting hungry, but just ate drink water, drink water, drink water.

Keep doing what you are doing and step up your training regime. Trick your body into new excercises; if you are waling for an hour try jogging on and off instead. If you are running for an hour as your routine, stop and instead start doing speed intervals for the next couple of weeks. You burn more calories and your heart receives better practice when you are putting it through the paces.

I agree with the rest you really need to eat more calories, between 1200 - 1400. Eat six small meals a day. This will keep your metabolism running constantly. You also could have hit a plateau. How long have you been actively losing weight? If you are doing strength training you might be converting your body fat into muscle, which weighs more. The best way to determine are how are your clothes fitting??? You could also take measurements. The way you look is more important than the number on the scale. Stick with it!!!

Your metabolism may actually be quite a bit slower than your calculated 2700 calories per day. It's also possible that you are taking in too FEW calories -- your body thinks you are starving and it is conserving every little calorie you put in. I know it seems counterintuitive, but increase your caloric intake to about 1500-1700 per day. Keep up the exercise consistently and see if the weight starts to come off again.

You are probably starving your body hun!

Your body actually goes into "starvation mode" if you don't eat enough calories each day, which means you will maintain weight rather than lose because your body holds on to everything it can. 1,200 calories should be your absolute minimum each day.
We need to abide by the law of thermodynamics in order to lose weight; energy in and energy out. Say you eat 1,000 calories, and then burn 500 calories by working out. You should then obtain AT LEAST 700 calories to get up to 1,200 and out of that starvation mode.

You're not eating enough and your body is probably in starvation mode. You need to eat at least 1200 calories daily (more if you exercise a lot).

I would also guess you're not taking in enough calories. You want a calorie deficit of about 250 calories per day.
