Try gun sites on net. Some states must be locked, others not accessible some don't care loaded or not with or without permit. Two or three of these. All states without paperwork or law enforcement badge, require unloaded, then added layers of laws. They are afraid to have people have easy access to a deadly weapon. They are the losers of society thinking the firearm is the problem. And are control freaks. REMEMBER When you hear the sirens, it's too late! You are are on your own in this life and don't forget the police only record history, to count on anyone else is childlike. In the real world, all alone, in some places, no deep thinking loser will be there to defend you against the real people that will kill you for something to do. This requires adult thinking. The anti gun freaks out there are on the side of the bad guys.

I live a few miles south of Carson City Nevada. Hunting is one of the great activities we have in this area. A few Years back a gentleman went into one of our markets to do some light shopping and happend to be carrying several firearms. After shopping for a while He was approached by a couple of our deputies to see what he was up to. He told them He couldn't lock his truck and the drive to his house and back to the market was a long hall. They let him continue.
As a side note, a safety course and a good record are all that are required for a concealed carry permit. The only places I know of that are off limits are hospitals, schools, police depts., banks, casinos.
I do know the rules very by the state.

If it is a handgun you have to have a permit anytime you are carrying it, unless it is unloaded in a case and out of reach which is only transport, you can stay on your own property without a permit. This in the State of Indiana

I would not worry about it. Carry it anyway. Thats what the criminals do. Nobody is going to give you a hard time about it if you don't go flashing it around, or bragging about it. I do not leave home without my gun, and I carry it with me everywhere I go. When the law questions me about it I just be honest with them and they always let me slide. (If you show them you are an NRA member thats almost as good as a permit) They do not want to try to prosecute you when they know you will have an NRA attourney representing you in court. If you have no criminal intentions you have nothing to worry about. By the way, it is your RIGHT to bare arms, just as much as it is your right to breath and sleep.

No, since states seem to think the second ammendment doesn't apply. It depends on your state and the type of gun.

What state are you in. Some states have "open Carry" meaning as long as the weapon is visible you can do what you want.

Yes you do, well at least in Texas, but most other places I'd think. because you'd have to have it concealed on you, therefore you'd need the concealed handgun license.
