I've just become a proud grandmother for the very first time! My daughter gave birth to a 9lb 1oz baby girl, 48 hours ago. My question is, how old were you when you first became grandparents?
I'd just like to know the average age. I am 38.

My daughter is 20 years old. My parents are first time great grandparents at 58 and 59.

First of all Congrats on being a grandma! How old is your daughter if you dont mind me asking? I became a grandma on Sept 14, 2006 and I was 37 yrs old at a time and I had a baby daughter who was 8 mos old when my grandson was born!!! Talk about timing! An aunt and a nephew who are 9 mos apart!!! LOL

I am 22 and I had my child at 20.And my mother was 38.Congrats to you and the rest of your family.Children are the greatest gift ever.

My first grandchild was born when I was 48 years old...still 48 when second one was born and I was 50 when the third and last one was born.
My first and only great grandchild was born when I was 69...

My mom was a grandma at 36 and she cried and cried she was to young and my kids call her mammy instead of grandma because grandma sounds old

my mom was 44and my dad was 48
my parents became grandparents twice in one year b/c my sister and I had our babies 3 months apart....
my husbands parents are in their 50's....
