I think if you had been as worried about raising him right as you are now about how he will be treated in prison, he wouldn't be going in the joint for 14 years.
Just a thought.

trust me its all the same as the others, as a matter of fact salinas is NOTHING like the prison in Chino or Folsom, salinas is a pretty calm prison, im sure they have there moments but i know people who have been there before and said that theyve been to worse prisons, so dont worry about it too much because its not the worst and baddest prison so just be glad about that at least.

I can't offer you any adviuce on that but after reading these overlyhateful responses I did want to say something positive. I am sure you were and are an wonderful parent - these people don't know you or your son so don't let them get you down.
Can you even imagine how pathetic their lives are if they have to slam you when you are down? That really speaks loads about their compassion level!
I wish your son the best and I wish you the best as well.

You'd think more people would just want to see your son get straightened out. I don't understand this glee that people express about seeing prisoners get roughed up and hurt. 14 years is a long sentence but its good to hear that you'll be standing by him. He'll be out someday, paroled before you know it.

Why is he going to prison for 14 years? Maybe he should have thought about the repercussions of his crime before he committed it, instead of crying about it later. Prisons are bad places, but you don't go for being good(for the most part).

Amazing how much hostility and nastiness you can find when people are able to post anonymously, isn't it? And folks wonder why people released from prison aren't able to make it. Sheesh.
Anyway, probably the biggest organization for families of people who have been incarcerated is Friends Outside.
http://www.friendsoutside.org/index.html
Their website is not very good, but it is probable that they can put you in touch with support groups particularly interested in inmates in Salinas.
Good luck.

That facility is currently over double it's intended capacity. Your son is probably going to be the one making the loud cries, in the shower.
