If she is at least two months old, I would start with the Royal Canin Baby Cat. It has really small, softer kibble that is better than even most kitten foods. Don't be scared away from it by the price. It is a little more expensive, but it is healthier all the way around than the other store bought foods. Your kitten will eat less of this than other foods because it is all nutrients and no fillers, thus it will last longer. She will poop less, and it will stink less. All that combined adds up to a healthier cat and a happier you.

When she is old enough, you can move her to the Royal Canin kitten food which is also really good. Still has small kibble and is pretty easy for them to eat. You might also want to make sure you have canned food available between 5 and 8 months because dry food can be painful when they are losing their baby teeth. My kitten wouldn't even eat a french fry last night because it was too hard for her. (Yes, I know, french fries are not for kittens. It was once, not a habit).

Good luck with your new baby!

There are special dry foods for kittens. Royal Canin "baby kitten" is very good, and other companies also make dry food for kittens. They have the right ingredients and small size, and they are easier to chew. Don't feed them dry food for adult cats until they are 4 months old at least. If theyare less than 4-5 weeks old, you could wet the kitten dry food at first or mix it with some canned food.

Kittens can begin on dry "kitten" food at three weeks. Before that they should have special formula which can even be found at wal-mart. At around three weeks I try to mix the two together. Dry food is actually better if the kitten is old enough.

Ive heard they do make dry food for kittens that is softer then food for adults. But I would try some canned cat food. Its nice and soft for cats that have no teeth or kittens. But just be careful on what brand of cat food you get, there have been recalls.

In the beginning, kittens need to drink their mother's milk (usually for about 5-6 weeks, or until your kitten is about 2 lbs). Once she is over two pounds, or about six weeks old, you can start feeding her dry kitten food until she is about one year old. Once she is one year old, start mixing in adult dry food.

If she is under 8 weeks old then she only needs milk but if she is over 8 weeks old then you could try because she might like it enough to eat it. We have ours dry food when they were kittens and they ate it.

Start with a good quality canned food. After about 3 months start to weene them off of it. Like the first & seccond day give them 75% canned food & 25% dry food. The 3rd & 4th days give them 50% of each. The fith & sixth day give them 25% canned & 75% dry. and the 7th day give them 100% dry. you can mix them together or you can give them seperatly.

its fine, they make dry food for kittens, they even have a kibble that is a little softer that may be easier for the kitten at first.
