I have been diagnosed with TMJ. Symptoms are headache and jaw pain.
The only treatments I know of are surgery, prevention (don't chew gum or eat chewy foods), using a night guard at night to prevent teeth grinding and/or pain killers.

My jaw clicks terribly when I chew or open my mouth. It doesn't happen every time, mostly when I open my mouth wide. My doctor told me to discontinue gum chewing and use Tylenol when it really hurt. There are several treatment options, i just don't really like taking meds or anything and am not the most cooperative patient. Go see you dentist or family doctor and have them refer you to a specialist if you have TMJ.

I have it. The symptoms are popping of the jaw, soreness in your jaw and ear, teeth pain from grinding your teeth at night and wearing down of the teeth from grinding them. Treatments are as follows: You can purchase a night guard to wear at night while sleeping (can be purchased at wal-mart or target), you can be fitted for a jaw splint by your dentist and if neither of these options work for you then you will need to discuss the possibility of surgery in which the cushioning around the joint of your jaw bone would be replaced. Good Luck!

There can be pain in the jaw, headaches, a clicking noise, pain during talking, chewing, yawning, etc. also pain can be in the ear. your jaw could lock up, or become dislocated when opened.
theres a bunch of ways to treat it, like changing the things that you eat, so you dont have to chew as much or as hard (like not chewing gum), trying to relax your jaw so you dont clench it, putting some heat on it. I think they might have splints to go in your mouth as well, among other things...

my cousin has that and at night he has to sleep with a guard in his mouth that his dentist made for him he pretty much describes it as lockjaw when he wakes up in the morning that will sometimes last for hours but says the guard in his mouth keeps him from biting down so hard when he sleeps and alleviates a lot of the symptoms

pain in the jaw and a clicking sound are indications that you should see your dentist.
