220 minus your age. About 80% of that number is your target heart rate.

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. The fat burning zone is 60-69% of your max heart rate, above that is cardiovascular and endurance training.

Also, the 220 minus your age is not completely accurate. If you are in good cardiovascular health and exercise at least 3 times a week, a better formula is 205 minus half your age.

220 minus your age is supposed to be your maximum safe heart rate, and 70% of that is supposed to be your target rate for cardio/aerobic exercising. This is not written in stone, and a lot depends on your overall health and the condition of your heart and cardiac arteries.

google it, find your max heart rate, and dont exceed 80% of that.
