Hi, this question is strange sorry.
My son has a weird fixation with his nipples, he is four years old. I don't know if nursing him until he was two has anything to do with this or not. He has been dong this for about two months now, he just won't stop touching them. If I keep him busy with other things, reading, drawing, etc.. he seems to stop until he gets bored again. I tell him to stop and he thinks I am mad, I just don'tunderstand it.

Has anyone else gone through this? Is it a faze? I feel frustrated, and very worried.

Children are curious by nature. The thing that you want to be careful of is teaching him that his body is dirty. What I did when my son realized he had a penis was I told him that it's ok to explore while you are in the bathroom/bathtub or while you are in your own room. You just may want to tell him that while it's perfectly ok because it's HIS body, there are appropriate and inappropriate places to explore his own body. Part of his facination with them is going to come from you making it seem taboo.

Just a nervous habit. My son use to bite his lips until they were bleeding. I noticed that he stopped when he was on vacation and out of school. I think starting school was a big step that caused him some anxiety. Is there anything new going on in your son's life? Try not to scold him because that could give hang ups about his body which could have worse repercussions later on. Try to explain that he will make his nipples sore if he keeps touching them. Give him something else to hold in his hands (a small plastic dinosaur, a matchbox car, a squeezable ball..) so he can have another outlet for his fidgety fingers. Don't worry, he will outgrow it.

I agree with the others that at 4 the body is a cool thing to explore and it just feels good.

As far as the nursing until he was 2, I nursed all 3 until 2 and it is a wonderful gift, NOT weird!

My boys played with themselves and my lovely daughter liked to put 'treasures' up her tee tee!

good luck

my son at age 2 used to hold onto BOTH nipples while he watched TV....It took alittle while for us to get him to stop. We told him enough that he just quit and moved onto his ears..He just turned 3...Now i have to get him to slow down with that.

I also put bandaids on his nipples a couple times....That seemed to help too.

Other than scarring him for life, breastfeeding him until he was 2 was just weird, has nothing to do w/ the nipples. Kids do that, they find something on their body & if it feels good, they keep doing it just b/c it feels good. They don't know it's strange.

The best thing to do to get him to stop is to just ignore him when he does it. That's all. He'll quit on his on after awhile, he'll get bored w/ it.

better his nipples tha his penis, which is what most boys go for.!!

Its an interesting sensation, he will get over it eventually. Don't stress, and it has nothing to do with bfing to 2.

Most boys go for what is in their pants, or their belly button. He will get past it. We told ours that we dont play with parts of our bodies that clothes cover, worked for him... until bath time!
Good luck, dont worry, he will get past it.
