It is kind of like a comb it has to halves with a hinge in the middle when flat but it's at one end when bent. The comb 'teeth' kind of slot together, at the other end are little swirly grips that twist round each other to fasten. It has a slight curve to fit with the head i expect.
What is this and what do i do with it, the person who gave it me is dotty and wouldn't have a clue just thought it 'looked nice'!

I use those to hold my hair back like a ponytail because my hair is thick, layered, curly and not that long. Pull your hair back as though you would make a ponytail. Open the clip and put the hing at the top of the "ponytail" and close it around all of your hair. Make sure the clasp catches and you get a kind of long, waterfall of hair. I think they work well but I know people with thin or straight hair tend to say they fall out too easily.

Its a type of hair grip and can be used depending on your hair type.
Short (above shoulder) fine hair. Twist the hair up and then grab all the hair in the twist with some hair from the top of the head( used like one of those crab clips but prettier)
Long fine hair. the same but make the twist looser for an undone feel
thick hair; you won't be able to grab all of the hair so take sections from each side of your head, twist together and clip at the back, this is a really pretty look right now.
Tips, practice in the mirror and get used to using it, it can basically be used for any sort of up or half up -do.
Use some hair grips as well to make the look tidier!

ok...its called a banana clip. it gives you an up-do, loose pony tail kind of look. i have alot of these and i luv them! theyer great for a fun summer look. when you put the clip in the hinge goes down towards the base of your neck. the way i use the clip is i filp my head upside down so my hair is hanging down, gather your hair in a loose ponytail w/ one hand, then open the clip around the hairand slide it closed, then clasp it shut. b sure to get the comb teeth in tight so it will stay.

It's called a banana clip and it gives you a sort of Mohawk at the back...i used to lie back on the chair, tilt my head back and put the clip under your hair, bring round and fasten at the top...

try putting your hair up with it, make it into your own style, since no one knows what it really is there is no right or wrong way to wear it. Just try to wear the best way you see fit

its a hair clip u put ur hair in a bobble or somthing n then put it on top by the way ur describing it i think its just for fashion. and i think ive got 1 like it

Maybe try teisting your hair into a pontail and then clip it in i have done and it looked quite smart actually x

If it's really that pretty, wear it with a cute outfit and leave out the jewellery.
