Yes, and 11% of all Americans have sexually transmitted diseases. 13.7% have criminal records. 23% of all American adults are addicted to illegal drugs and 18% regularly shoplift. 28% of all Americans believe that the Eiffel Tower is in Dallas. 73% of all American men have a penis less than eight centimetres in length while fully erect. All of this is absolutely true and I know it because there was a poll of 1700 American adults that I read all about. Now, you quote your sources and I will quote mine.

Incidentally, if you are equating ignorance with stupidity, then sort yourself out first, will you? Semi-literacy seems almost de rigeur on this site but you're abusing the privilege.

The survey must have been carried out in an inner city sink estate. The people there probably have never even seen a cow, sheep or pig. They think eggs come in cartons from factories like sweets.
Carry out the same survey in middle class rural areas and you would get answers which would be close to, if not 100%.

A poll of 17000 people has shown that there are too many stupid questions on Yahoo answers.
If you post questions just to get some points, try to be clear of at least witty.
I do not believe you unless you tell me where you found that poll.
Try to be a little bit more critical. You might have saved me some time. If you think British are ignorant, you are perfectly entitled to the opinion. People believe the strangest things. I am sure there are even people who still believe that banks take good care of their money. Good for them. But please do not come with a poll if you do not mention where you find it and explain where other people can find it.

Um, hello. Do you not know that bacon does come from sheep and that cows do lay eggs? Like, do you think bacons comes from, like, pigs or something, or that cows have babies that grow in their tummies and then come out of a hole? Like, they need their stomachs to make the chocolate milk, duh.

What a loser.

Don't be silly, folks. Kids DO know where their food comes from - Lidl, of course - and if they're really well behaved, the sweets come from the shelves next to the till!
But seriously, folks...what a pointless survey. So kids as young as eight don't know where yoghurt comes from - so what? the money that paid for this survey would have been better spent on educating these kids instead of making them look thick.
Nice one, Simon T...salaam al aikum 2u2!

OK , if believing that this poll is for real, do 1700 "adults" represent the entire population of Great Britain , i think not , its easy to generalise isn't it , i mean if one suicide bomber comes from Saudi Arabia that makes all Saudis terrorists doesn't it ( are you getting my point yet ) and i must say that these kind of views are the epitome of ignorance

95% of so called students do not know when the second world war started or finished, who Winston Churchill was.99.99% of so called students cannot spell, write or add up. All this stems from Blairs successful attempts to take us back to the dark ages where only a very small minority of people can read or write or have any knowledge this is what he and his backers the religious right want this country to be reduced to mindless slaves who will do what we are told and obey are so called betters.

I've NEVER heard of this and I really don't believe it at all!

Also, how can you call British people ignorant when over 3/4 of Americans-
a) Can't find USA on a Map
b) Have never been out of there own state!

You are going to offend ALOT of people with this question, and IF you are American, I really don't think you have the right to be commenting on people being ignorant! I'd be more thoughtful in the future if I was you!

Actually that survey was done with school children under 12 so if you're gonna use it as an argument please get your facts correct.

So far as ignorant goes - You've either misread what you were reading, believed what somebody told you without checking it, or have distorted the report in a vain attempt to pass it off as fact and you are hoping that nobody would notice.

So erm - Which of us was ignorant again?
