If so, how did his body lose the bloating upon resurrection? I know this sounds gross but bear with me. I understand that a miracle took place that made him rise from the dead. I am just wondering if his corpse began any of the normal decomposition processes during those 3 days. Also, what kept the bugs off of him?

Thank you in advance for giving serious thought to this quite serious question.

That's a myth that originated with Mithras (or before). The myth was carried over into Christianity.

Several stories exist concerning the birth of Mithras. According to many sources he was born of a virgin on December 25. Some stories say that he sprang from a living rock or a tree. One sculpture found on Hadrian's Wall depicts Mithras hatching from a "Cosmic Egg." All stories agree that he was born on December 25, a date later adopted as the birth date of Christ by Christians in 320 AD. This date was celebrated as the Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, or the Birthday of the Unconquered Sun. Some depictions of his birth show shepherds in attendance, while others show only two torchbearers. He was buried in a tomb from which He rose again from the dead—an event celebrated yearly with much rejoicing.

No, he's been dead a lot longer than that. The resurrection never occurred - Jesus is mythology the way Attis, Mithras, or Osiris is mythology.

Herod thought Jesus was a resurrected John the Baptist. It was a common opinion at the time (See Mt.16.13-14, Mk.6:14-15, 8:27-28, Lk.9:7-8, 18-19). With so many of Jesus' contemporaries fooled regarding John the Baptist, it erodes the credibility of Jesus' resurrection. 14:1-2

For once, I agree in part, with JIMBO - Two of Jesus' disciples failed to recognize him after his supposed resurrection. Could it be because the person they saw wasn't really Jesus? That is a lot more likely than resurrection.

SAB 24:16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

the bible foretells at Revelation chapter 20 that there will be a resurrection in the fututre. How can there be when all these bodies have decomposed ? because god can accomplsh this.
This is in harmony with Acts 24 v 15
and John 5 verse 25.
Jesus resurrected lazarus who had been dead about 4 days.

Given what He went through, it'd take a lot of convincing that He could have lived. And when it comes to His decomp, not entirely sure on that one. Perhaps climate, way He was wrapped for barrial or where He was laid would have influenced this. Or, maybe, it was all part of the miracle.

But you're right - other's didn't seem to notice anything physically different about Him after He rose from the grave other than the marks on His hands and feet.

Well that's an interesting question :)

Think of the scripture that says "flesh and blood cannot inherit God's kingdom." (1 Cor. 15:50) When Jesus died, he was resurrected to heaven in the spirit condition he held before coming to earth in the first place. AH, but he came back to earth and was seen by his disciples. That is true. But if you look at those occasions when he appeared to his disciples after his resurection, early on, they did not recognize him. It was until he preached to them, or in Mary's case said her name, that they came to realize who he was. (John 20:14-16; Luke 24:13-32; Mark 16:12) He was given a new fleshly body for the purpose of appearing to his disciples for 40 days before returning to heaven.

Baphomet, Jewish SECULAR historian Josephus would beg to differ with you. He might never have acknowledged Jesus divinity but he certainly recorded his existence and some accounts of his life.

Yes. During that time, as Ro. 6:9 says: "Christ, now that he has been raised up from the dead, dies no more; death is master over him no more.”

The flesly body he died in was disposed of by God. He was resurrected in a spiritiual body. 1 Pet. 3:18 says: ", even Christ died once for all time concerning sins, a righteous [person] for unrighteous ones, that he might lead you to God, he being put to death in the flesh, but being made alive in the spirit."

The bible says as Jonah was in the whale belly for 3 days & nights, so shall the Son of man be in the heart of the earth preaching unto those souls in prison, But you have to look at this 3 days correctly, David said That he knew that Jesus will not leave his soul in hell, Of course at that time hell or we can say Paridise was in the heart of the earth, Now David also said thou shall not suffer that Holy One to see corruption, Corruptions sets in after 72 hours. If you don't believe me ask a funeral parlor, We have already ask them.Therefore Jesus could not have been dead longer than 72 hours, Because his body was not to see corruption, So you see Jesus being Crucified on Friday & they had to take his body down before the sabbath began, & the sabbath begins back then at 6:00 PM on Friday, Then we see Jesus being resurrected on Sunday morning at day break, So you have part of Friday All of Saturday & part of Sunday, that is where you get the 3 days from, but look at the time factor , Jesus died before the sabbath began, so I am looking about 3:00pm. To Saturday 3:00pm you have 24 hours, then let add about 15 more hours onto that to bring us to sunrise on Sunday morning, In looking at it we can include Friday, Saturday & Sunday as being 3 days, but we have to also get the scriptures to line up,Seeing around 3:00pm friday he died, Then Early Sunday morning at the break of day, You take 24 hours Plus 15 hours & you get 39 hours, Estimated, 33 hours shy of corruption.

"decay", or "corruption", did not set in until after three days.

Mathew 12:Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You." But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Psalm 16:10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

Acts 2:24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. 25 For David says concerning Him:

‘ I foresaw the LORD always before my face,
For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad;
Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
28 You have made known to me the ways of life;
You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’

29 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, 31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.

Yes, Jesus was dead for three days.

The way his body lost the bloating, was that his body was instantly transmuted to spirit, and then back to flesh when he visited his disciples, then the body rose to heaven.
