I am sure if you walked into any Elbow Room Bar and asked the people who were sucking down Jim Beam, smoking cigars if they believed in GOD you would have 50% that would say yes and 50% per cent that would say no.

Why do you think people cannot understand that having a personal relationship with GOD is what prevents you from being destructive, doing things that would be harmful to yourself and to others? Our flesh is weak to sickness, addictions, emotional upheavals and death it's Christ who makes us strong and frees us from death..Why do people have trouble with the 2 concepts in your opinion?

NO PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT BUT WHAT YOU ASK IS TRUE BECAUSE I AGREE THAT KNOWING GOD IS DIFFERENT FROM SAYING I BELIEVE IN GOD. YOU DON'T JUST NEED ONE SIDE, YOU NEED BOTH, YOU NEED TO KNOW GOD AND THAT LEADS TO HAVIN BELIEVE .

For people do not have a personal relationship with God. He is a God of convenience. There was an old adage that there are no atheist in a fox hole.

The first time I attempted prayer was in a combat situation, of course I did not know God then.

To get back to your question , even people that profess a belief in God , can't even conceive what a personal relationship is.

You can not relate to these folks on a mental level, with out a heart conversion , they will read the Bible and not understand it. The unsaved have no eyes to see or ears to hear. God is on the shelf if they need him. This is their belief.

they are still citizens of this Earth and their souls have not been reborn. They plan their futures here , not in the here after.

If they are of the unchosen and you show the things of God, it will make no sense to them, it's not fare and what God calls sin is taking away someones rights.

And you want to know why they can not discern the difference?

1. They are in a bar and want to forget God, Work, the Wife and her constant questioning. People in a bar are not interested in God and will say yes or no to get rid of you or to start a fight.
2. God does not prevent me from doing harmful things. I choose to be destructive/harmful on my own regardless of my belief in God.
3. My flesh is strong or weak depending on my nutrition, genetic make-up, moral character, etc., not whether I believe in Jesus.

Your final admission into a realm of afterlife depends on your actions not on your belief. If your believe you are saved because you simply because you believe check all our politicians who profess belief. Take personal responsibility and use your God as an adviser. What would you do if, upon arrival at the gates find that Jesus and Saint Peter rejected you due to your misconception and didn't appreciate your insistence that belief would save you?

I love your image of bars. What's wrong with a good night of friends drinking and cigars? Lack of education is the key. I know that alcohol can lead to disease, abuse, dependency, and accidents (mainly auto related). I know that cigars can cause various cancers, and diseases. Having said that I went out for a couple drinks after work last night, I took a cab home and don't do it that often.....so how would avoiding that situation have pulled me any closer to God? God doesn't want me to have a couple of responsible drinks with some new friends and learn from their experiences in life? God wants me to sit in circles and discuss His word to the point where I am so brainwashed that I believe in Noah's Ark?

I think God would be okay with me loving my neighbor, and actually would dislike it if I didn't take up the offer to have a couple of drinks.

Jesus did turn water into wine.

I don't get sick, I have no addictions, I am in good mind, and body and I owe it all to positive thinking. It's fact that stress can make us sick, not being "away from God."

I hope you read every word of this, but I really know that you just want to spread you message of disguised hatred.

i do not comprehend how all and sundry may have a "favourite aversion to historic previous"... historic previous isn't about what you experience; it is about what extremely occurred, as suggested through individuals. Jesus the guy truly existed. there is in basic terms about no dispute about that between historians or any tutorial who has studied the evidence for his existence. the position the war of words starts is after we are saying that Jesus is God incarnate. it truly is what Christians believe depending on the recent testomony writings. in case you've already got faith the Bible, then i urge you to study it extra heavily, utilising the same old scholarly commentaries as an help. in case you do not already believe the Bible, evaluate that from early on, Jesus became considered as divine and became worshiped through the early Christians. the most specific verses which verify Jesus' divinity are possibly Titus 2:13, Hebrews a million:8, and a couple of Peter a million:a million. in case you want a e book length clinical care of no matter if the recent testomony authors concept Jesus became divine, i propose interpreting putting Jesus in His position through Robert Bowman and Ed Komoszewski, who're both Christian teachers.

Sure, I understand that. Billions of people say "I believe in God".
No-one knows God.

Pretty straightforward.

However, then you wrote

"Why do you think people cannot understand that having a personal relationship with GOD is what prevents you from being destructive, doing things that would be harmful to yourself and to others?"

That is, of course, a filthy lie. You should be ashamed of yourself. If you aren't willing to participate in society, go crawl off into a little hole and take your hateful fantasies with you.

Why then don't most not understand that through a personal relationship, you are free to worship and live in a way that is consistent with that relationship. Why do most on here say that I am not a real Christian because my relationship is different. I would say that the ones that blindly follow their church and spout their Church's beliefs are the ones lacking a true relationship.

God is destructive by nature. If i am going to live forever as long as i believe JC died for my sins what motive do i have for living a good life? Your right, flesh is weak. But if god frees us from death then smoking, illness, addiction really wont effect us. Unless alcoholism, lung cancer and sadness follow us into heaven.

Yes.

One is impossible, while the other is just a delusion.

But, if that is the only thing that stops you going on a destructive bender, then you just go ahead with your delusions.

It's a nice little excuse, huh? A Christian does something un-Christianlike, and all the other Christians go "He wasn't a real Christian!"

Yet when a Muslim ignores the rules of his own holy book and blows up a building, they all go "See? All Muslims are like that, they want to kill us!"

Hmmm...

Do you understand that religious belief is an act of faith, and as such, you can just believe a god exists, not actually know it?
