I want to add a fireplace to my living room?

What should I consider? Gas or wood burning? Vented or ventless?

My house currently has no fireplace at all and is a 1967 ranch style.

I WOULD RECOMEND A WOOD BURNING ONE WITH A VENT I HAVE ONE IN MY HOUSE AND IT WORKS GREAT

I have always preferred wood burning. Before installing any type, check with your homeowners insurance about what is allowed and if premiums will go up.

Before making that decision, defer to a licensed contractor. You wouldn't want to make a mistake with improper installation.
