We are flesh and spirit and one man God is Father Son and Holy Spirit and is one God. In our lives God shows us the flesh should be in submission to the spirit. Christ was God in the flesh and was in submission to the Father.Christ remained perfect by being in submission to the Father. He was tempted in his flesh and remained in submission to the father. We are also tempted in our flesh and are taught to put our flesh in submission to our spirit which communes with God.

That is not at all what "being humble" means. Humility can mean being the one with all the reason in the world to exert power and influence, and not doing it. Jesus and God are two parts of a trinity, or 2 parts of the three forms of God. Jesus was humble to the whole of God.

He had to live "as man", that in itself is a humbling experience if you're God!!
You chose a very convenient definition of "Humble", how about :
1 - not proud or arrogant; modest
2 - courteously respectful
They fit just as well if not better.
What if Bill Gates wanted to live life as a regular Microsoft employee?
He'd plant himself (disguised of course) on the assembly line with the rest of the workers in one of the facilities...keep in mind that at any time he has the power to do whatever he wants, but he will humble himself in order to experience life as a regular employee no matter how bad it gets, even if he wound up getting fired for something he didn't do in the process...get it?

Well that is one definition. Personally I believe that Jesus is Jesus and God is God. So that definition works for me! But even if I did not believe that way, I can see how being humble can mean simply not being pride-full. Not gloating over anyone else because of your own skills or accomplishments. Jesus KNEW he was better than all of us, but he also knew that we could accomplish great things also we just needed a little more help.

Nothing, absolutely nothing and no one is greater than God Almighty and His Son Jesus Christ.
Only the greatest perfect, pure love, and a great, patient, compassion for human beings could explain Jesus' humbleness in light of all He faced and did for everyone, not just those who loved Him back. but for those who cursed Him, spate on Him, tortured Him.
That is TRUE PERFECT love in action.

Calmness before the Storm...cool name...especially for someone who asks really searching questions like this one.
I was prepared for the usual "then Who was He praying to" or something similar, but you made me think about God in a new way, for which I am grateful.
There is nothing greater than God...but before you toss you head and say "well, then, His humility is just a sham", I ask you to at least consider this thought...God is Love. According to God's own testimony, Love abides only where it is willing to give to others...in other words, if you truly love, say, for example, like the Good Samaritan in the story, it won't matter to you if the person in need is someone who agrees with you or not, or if you have to spend your time or your money, or give up your dignity in order to give to that person...and God has shown His Love, and His humility by giving up His dignity to come and be born as a human being. Think about it...God, the Creator, the greatest Spirit of all...in fact the King of all that is...steps out of His glory, in order to take on a body of flesh...complete with all that that implies. You know those questions about "Did Jesus ever have to move His bowels"? Well, yes, He did. He walked all over Galilee...think of it..God did not have a limosine, or even a cart to ride around in. God walked. God got tired, just like any mortal man...He slept. He got hungry and thirsty, just as you and I do...but He didn't hire a fancy chef d'cuisine...He ate the same simple fare as any peasant...bread, and fish, and He drank wine...really fermented grape juice that had been watered down. Think of putting fresh grape juice into a bottle made of animal skin, and carrying it around in the desert...sound like a tasty beverage to you? God did not live in a palace...the Son of Man, He said, had nowhere even to lay His head... Have you ever heard your Mom say something like "Close that door! Were you born in a barn?" Of course not, you probably have no idea what a barn looks or smells like, but something in you knows that being "born in a barn" would be completely unacceptable. You were probably born in a nice, modern hospital, with doctors and nurses standing by to make sure that you got whatever care you needed. Yet Jesus was, indeed, "born in a barn"...His bassinet was a trough, meant for cattle to eat from.
And then, He made the ultimate Sacrifice....He died.
The cross was real wood, the spikes were real metal, the spear the Roman stuck between His ribs was real sharp...and the blood He shed was really red.
In His Own words, "No greater love has any man than this..."
Humble? Was God humble?
Yes...God was humble...not because He is not great, but because His love is that amazing.
Jesus is far more than just an "example" of humility. God is Humility itself...because He is Love, itself.

HUMILITY
The personal quality of being free from arrogance and pride and having an accurate estimate of one’s worth.
Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men.
And when He had come as a man in His external form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross. For this reason God also highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow— of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth— and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

JESUS WAS HUMBLE BECAUSE A GOD CANNOT BE PENETRATED WITH PRIDE. JUST BECAUSE HE WAS BORN INTO A POOR FAMILY DOESNT PROVE HE WASNT GOD. WHAT DOES SOCIAL STATUS HAVE TO DO WITH HOW "BIG" YOU REALLY ARE. TO BE BORN HUMBLE IS MORE GODLY THAN TO BE BORN VAIN AND PROUD. IN ORDER TO BE COMPPASIONATE OF PEOPLE WHO MUST EXPERIENCE WHAT THEYVE BEEN THROUGH. CAN YOU AS A RICH PERSON EXPERIENCE THE EVERYDAY LIFE OF A POOR MAN???NO RIGHT

but thats what makes it, if you believe in it, so great! and that's why all the christians go round telling you your "sins are forgiven". if God had taken moral high ground and come to earth as some high power, it would be like He was being self righteous and condescendingly forgiving.
coming as a human put Him, or at least a form of him, on the same level as everyone else, which is what makes the whole forgiveness thing so sincere.

I think Jesus was God in the flesh, yet he had the same qualities as man...meaning he had that capability to become humble. Jesus knew he was created by God and saw him as his father, yet possessed the qualities of God and man.
