I want to leave from Texas, so Disney is not an option (not this time). My boyfriend (hopefully soon fiance!) and I would like a little time alone, so it would be helpful if there was some type of childcare. Has anyone had a similar experience and can recommend a cruise line &/or destination?

I have been crusing since I was 4 and I am now 37 with an 8 year old. I have not travelled on Disney as we really enjoy Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Their kids club is fantastic - the first time my daughter was old enough to go in on her own (3) we didnt manage to get her off the ship in a week!

They allow you to leave the children in kids club when you go on trips off the ship and there is no additional charge except between 10pm and 1am when it was $5 an hour last time we were on board. The children have a timetable of activities which involve all matter of things like science, games, dressing up, pyjama parties.

The larger ships have rock climbing walls, ice rinks, crazy golf amongst other things and I would highly recommend them!

Disney is probably the best for kids and adults (there's not much for teens, though). However, since Disney isn't an option for you this time, I'd suggest Royal Carribbean. Carnival is good too, but they're called the "party boat" and are more for spring breakers looking for a good time in my experience-- not the best environment for kids. Most cruises have "daycamps" or some other form of childcare for the kids. Enjoy your trip!

Carnival Cruise line.

From what I heard from others on Disney, it was very expensive and so so.

Carnival is moderate plus has the day camp.
We did and our boys had a great time, and spent most of their days in camp. They wanted to do it every day without us even asking them if they wanted to go.

We had a great time and doing it again with Carnival.

Carnival cruise lines are good for little kids. They have child care on the ship.

i would honestly tell you to either take the disney cruise line or the carnival cruise because the royal caribbean one is more for adults and teenagers.

I would agree that carnival is the one you may try to go on but here is a web site for you to look at. In the interest of your child.

Disney of course! Disney appeals to the youngest, as well as the oldest. Of course if price matters to you, theres a whole bunch of cruises out there. I forgot the name of the other one but it has the tail of a whale at the end. It has a whole bunch of stuff in it. I never been on a cruise but we planned one time and there were truckloads.
