Ok. So I am going to Spain in a week and i was wondering what i should get my host family. I live in Texas so i was thinking like a cowboy hat, but that seems too like Texas/cowboy pridish, and i just wanted to know if any of yall out there had any answers for me. I mean i've heard of bringing food and candy, but i'm not really sure i wanna do that. Soo if yall could give me some feedback that would be awesome. Thanks!!

Cowboy hats are an awesome idea - as would be Dallas Cowboy memoribilia, regional delacies (When I take gifts to places outside the south, I often get "Bone Sucking Sauce" It's portable and like no other Bar-be-que sauce in the world) Pictures of Texas would be nice, too - of your family to share with them.
Make sure if you take food that it won't spoil. Also, avoid glass containers. Packet's of Tex-Mex Spice, anything boxes or canned or in plastic containers.
Your going on an "Exchange" right? Taking cawboy hats is kind of the reason for going! Take as much of your culture as you can fit in your suitcase and share it with your host family. They will do the same for you.

My son is going on an exchange soon, and we were told that gifts representing his American life are the best idea. The cowboy hat, bbq sauce, etc are great ideas. Also, since July 4th is coming, stores are selling t-shirts with stars and stripes designs.

When my boss's neice was an exchange student in Spain, she brought some NY specality foods and a coffee-table book of photos of New York. Her host family sent her back with Spanish candy.
