I think it can be very helpful for spiritual growth to remove youself from the world for a while. If you can find a place to go for a few months or even a year where you do not have to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off worrying about bills, groceries, and what not, you can have time to really focus on God and scripture. There are some religious communities that will let you stay with them for a while, doing some work during the day but focussing on God all the time. Not too many people can become hermits, but maybe you can find the time to visit a monastery, a convent or a lay apostolate for a few weeks.

For some people, yes. I think it's a specific calling. I have always thoguht a life of quiet contemplation would be wonderful and have though to enter a convent once or twice. However, I think many people would just go insane as a hermit. Humans are very social creatures and our connections to one another teach us very importants things ont he path to enlightenment.
The Dali Lama Speaks of "Being in the world, but not of it", which is the exact opposite of hermitage. It's finding that peace and reflectiveness while still being part of the human race. I would recommend you read any of His books.

Absolutely NOT.
Everyone is called differently.
Being a hermit is one of the most high callings in the church. Assuming you mean a true canonical hermit and not something alone the lines of the unabomber.
Only people of sound theology, mind and spirit should become hermits. It is FAR to easy for the devil to tempt us into sin when we are completely cut off.

No, we are taught to avoid the "Spirit of the World", which is an impelling force that influences human society made up of those who are not servants of Jehovah God, causing such people to say and do things according to a characteristic pattern. Although people act on individual preferences, those who manifest the spirit of the world give evidence of certain basic attitudes, ways of doing things, and aims in life that are common to the present system of things of which Satan is ruler and god.
Why is being tainted by the spirit of the world a matter of serious concern?
1 John 5:19 " The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." [ Satan has fostered a spirit that dominates the thinking and activities of those of mankind who are not Jehovah's approved servants. It is a spirit of selfishness and pride that is so pervasive that it is like the air that humans breathe. We need to exercise great care not to submit to Satan's power by letting that spirit mold our lives.]

True deliverance comes by worshipping and obeying God through Christ Jesus. We have need to go into the world; to be a light unto the world; not to be a part of the world.

No. True deliverance comes only through Jesus Christ. Living like a hermit is not what God intended. He said we are to be "in" this world, but not "of" it.

I oughta know.
I have never been on a date, ever.
Just the thought of romance frightens me.
I never know what to say to a girl.
I guess after awhile, the pain just numbs you down.
I was picked on by the girls in school as well as the boys.
When I did try to ask a girl out, she rejected me.
After awhile, I swore I would never try again.
I haven't either.
God Bless

God doesn't want us to be alone otherwise we won't be able to procreate... but he does encourage us to have our privacy.
Being OF this world means being influenced by all the sinful acts we are exposed to on a regualr basis... basically we wants us to live IN the world as ourselves and not like those who are OF (which the majority are sinners) it.

The monastic life has been tried. It does NOT remove a person's temptation to sin.
