Federmäppchen is the standart German term for a pencil case. When the pencil case has a round shape, so all the pencils are stuffed in there and you usually have to search it to find the right one, you can also call it "Schlampermäppchen" (I don't know if this is a dialect term in Southern Germany, but wiki uses it, too!).

it's Federmäppchen the two dots on the a are important, if you don't find it on an qwerty keyboard you can use ae instead

Gotta add to Martin's post ... to get your umlauted letters, you can use the alt key and your number pad.
So, alt 132 gets you ä
alt 129 ü
alt 148 ö

it means pencil case.'etui' means pencil case as well so there must be two names.
