Everyone knows I'm an atheist, so I'm not going to defend, or chastise, anyone's reasons for embracing religion. Having said that, I believe completely in religious freedom; people have the right to believe whatever they want for whatever reason they want. Validity is not an issue with me.
At the risk of contradicting what I've just said, I would, however, like to point out that no enticement of career advancement would make me embrace any religious ideal.
Also, let me finally say that I do admire persons who are sincere in their beliefs, even if they don't agree with mine. I think you are one of those sincere persons.

I think you are right personally, they don't seem to really care about the religion or spirituality for that matter, all they seem to care about is the status that is gives them If you remember there for awhile everyone was on the Kabbalah(not sure if I spelled that right) bandwagon and now its Scientology which just seems creepy to me but I guess they think they will get cool points if they join one of those cults oops i mean religions. hmm good question though!

It's difficult to judge someone's motivations simply based off reading an article in People or watching a show on E!...
That said, I assume that celebrities have more image issues than the rest of us and I see no reason their religious beliefs would be exempt...

Organised religion has always been about controlling people's behavior. There was a time when there was no difference between religion and government. Religion rules via guilt; government via fear. "Caught between Church and State..." The bottom line here is people getting up in front of thier 'peers' and stating, "See what a good person I am."
I believe Christ had something to say about this, and reccomended we pray in our closets, directly to 'Our Father, who is in Heaven'. Anything less, and you may as well be a Publican.

YOu are absolutely correct. Hollywood in general has been condoning the "feel-good" liberal mind-set for quite sometime now. This is why you see so many stepping up to slam President Bush or Mel Gibson (producer of The Passion of Christ) or otherwise denouncing anything morally restrictive (eg. homosexuality, sexual purity, drug use, etc.).

It makes sense. Because L.Ron Hubbard was a rich celebrity and so many rich celebrities liked the idea of an exclusive "club". It's more like a club then a religion.

It's not wrong to speak out against the wrong that you see in the world. We need an understanding of the truth based on discernment of the spirit that is in operation in the world, which you have exposed. Satan walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour but most are oblivious to him, to their own destruction.

Notice they tend to go to these fringe religions like Scientology and eastern mysticism cults because they are non judgemental philosophies that helps them feel better about their materialistic lifestyles.
