You should start early, like 4 or 5 years old, and give her small bits of info gradually. Drug education is like sex education with kids- you can't expect to plop it all down in front of them at one time and expect them to learn much- small bits frequently, open communication about it's the way to go, and make sure she knows she can ALWAYS ask you ?s about it.

Id say that the best time to tell your children about drugs is probably around age 13 before they go into high school cause that's where they are going to be more exposed to people who do drugs and that can influence them into doing them. High school opens a whole new doorway to different things. My sister went into her first year of grade 9 not knowing very much about drinking and drugs. she ended up hanging out with some grade 12 girls who got her so drunk she got alchole poisoning and almost died! and that's in the first month of her grade 9 year!!

Make sure its an age where she will understand what you are talking about. I would say around age 10. Make sure you tell her about the risks of drugs.

It is never too early.
I have a 10 & 5 year old..I recently got an e-mail about this "strawberry quick" which is flavored meth they are passing out at playgrounds telling them it is "pop rocks" I saw it on the news as well.
IMy 10 year old already has had the talk but I told him again with my 5 year old.

Wow, well the age that kids know about them is getting younger and younger. I would say like 8ish. I'm 22 and I was hearing about drugs in like 3rd or 4th grade.

I agree with the guy above, but tell her the most when (s)he is 12/13 (s)he will want to know most abbout it then as high schhool is the place where most of the drug taking will start, but give her room to learn the less important bits for he self.

I'd talk to her about cigarettes at 4-5 years old. I just had that talk with my triplets. I'd get into the meth and cocaine and stuff around the age of 9-10.

As soon as possible. A friend of mine's little brother got in a accident while drinking and driving, the truck was totaled and we went to the junk yard with him to pick it up. I took my 5 year old daughter with me to show her the truck and told her that he wrecked it because he was drinking. Now she wont even drink root beer lol cause she thinks its beer
