I want to cross the Mexican border from San Diego to Tijuana on foot. Do I need a valid passport or will they accept a drivers license still?

Thanks in advance

For now, a Driver's license is fine. Starting in January 2008, you will be required to show a passport when crossing by land.

The passport requirement currently only applies to air and boat travel (and this has been temporarily suspended). The passport regulation for land crossings starts Jan. 1st, 2008. So currently, your ID is sufficient.

Try crawling through a tunnel the other direction, that should really freak out the border patrol and cause a real log jam to those trying to sneak in.

Better take your Birth Certificate, "just in case."
