or when something bad is happening to them?

I agree with you, but I have to tell you that those who call on to God when times are tough are hypocrites. The bible states if you call on God when trouble is here, he doesn't hear you. We tend to forget to Thank him too. We are blessed every day we take a breath but we all are guilty at times for taking it for granted. We should always pray no matter what. It is important to at least acknowledge God is good and give grace and thanks. I am guilty I must say because I don't always pray. Your question is a wake up for myself and those who may not intend to forget to give thanks and pray. I should make it a habit to call upon God and thank him, I should also make a habit to pray for forgiveness for each day I have sinned in some way.

Great question hon

Sometimes when things happen that is when some find jesus. I wouldn't suggest to only pray when you need something I think you should pray all the time. What I'm saying is when one gets in something so do deep that the only way they know out is to pray to the Lord. For some it actually draws them closer to him where they start a relationship and with others they just do it because they need an answer right now and think that is the correct way of doing it.

I pray all the time

We cant really say that some people pray when things go wrong because we are not around them all the time. IF you are then maybe you should ask them.

Its not that they are weak its because they know the lord is the only one that can help them. We really don't know where there hearts are only the lord does so I really cant pass judgment on that situation. To be honest no one is allowed to pass judgment only the lord can.

I think that a lot of people only pray when things are going wrong because they are desperate and feel the need to call out to God in those times. It's sad that believers don't give more praise and thanks to God during their prayers, but He's happy to have ANY form of communication with His children. Furthermore, He takes joy in knowing that when we've lost all hope, He's the one we turn to for peace, guidance, love and support. I know for a fact that there's no way I could do it without Him.

They are spiritually immature. The same can be said for children that only trust their parents when the child is in need. It could also be that people do not really have the relationship with God/ Christ that they claim they have. When I pray I am talking to God. The first thing I do when I pray is give God thanks. Sometimes that is all I do when I pray. Many of my prayers are all giving God thanks and then Amen.

Because of our selfish nature brought on by the pride that is in us. It is all about us. When we are doing good there is no need to pray. It is when things go bad we feel that God owe us something; and so we pray.

It's human nature. You tend to want to pray when things are bad, but a good Christian (Which I wish I was better) should pray through the ups and downs of life. E-mail me sometime (daveL13@hotmail.com). I need prayer for an important decision I may make in life. Thanks.

Great question.

I guess those who only pray when things go wrong don't have a very close relationship with God compared to those who pray more regularly.

Maybe they're taking things for granted by not praying or being thankful when things go right.

it is because when we are happy we forget about god but when something bad happens we want god to help us that is why many people pray when things go wrong.that is why god lets things go wrong for everyone if everything were right people would forget god
