Well a few things wrong with your premise. First we had the Korean War, The Vietnam War, and The First Gulf War. Then why are we in Iraq? Well it's because we lack sand, yea, it seems the beaches of California are washing away, so we thought we would attack an innocent Country and take their sand and give it to the Hollywood elite. Courtney Love told us to.

I think the Vietnam vets korean war vets gulf war vets all would disagree with that. We have not had much peacetime at all. However people not interested in knowing what there country is doing generally dont know what there country is doing. I can't believe anyone seriously did not know about the korean war vietnam and the gulf war! The gulf war was just about all televized with reporters on rooftops talking about how such and such place is getting hit with mortar rounds.

Also this war on terror... That is not a accual war per say it is a concept. You can not litteraly declair war on terror it is too general of a term.
Now mind you before people get all upset about this i say it is not a war on terror only because using that term is too generalized. If we were to be at war with terrorisim we might technically never NOT be at war. What we are in right now most definantly is a war. Congress might somehow call it s police action or something similar or a rebuilding effort but its a war.
As far as why in iraq and not terrorisim... Seriously did you write this question just to get points or something? Do you live in a cave under a waterfall in the middle of the ocean?

(First learn to spell,) In the 90s a resolution was passed and signed by President Clinton making Regime change in Iraq a matter of National policy. Bush was following a policy decision made before he was in the oval office. Thirdly, a resolution passed authorizing the use of military force against Iraq. Voted on and passed by members of both parties. That constituted a declaration of war.

By the looks of things it looks like there's a lot of terrorism in Iraq. Just basing my comment on how many innocent people get bombed daily over there. Not counting our troops, I'm talking about Iraqi citizens. So I'd say congress picked a pretty good place to go to war.

The terrorist are there too! And we have been to since WW2, it's called Desert Storm! And the Congress all voted to go to war in Iraq, get your facts straight! Do not believe a word that the liberal media tells you.

i agree the WWW2 was the last real war for America because it was for a nobel reason, defending and protecting America and others as well. other wars like Vietnam, Desert storm and Iraq were for political reasons brought to America nothing but lost of lives and resources and served nobody but only politicians.

We've had plenty of wars since 1945.

We're in Iraq because that's where the most terrorists are (short of Palestine). There are many reasons, but that's the important one for todays topic.

Congress authorized the President to go into Iraq. Comrade Billary and Kerry voted for it.

This sight has SPELL CHECK.

The reason we are in Iraq is the fact that Iraq did not live up to the agreement they signed in 1991. This agreement mandated Saddam's government to allow Nuc Inspectors into Iraq.

"We will stop killing you and your soldiers if you sign this agreement." He signed it and then violated that agreement. Thus we went back and finished the job.
