I found these things help.
- Take him out with you if you are only running small errands, it's not too hot and he won't be in the car long.
- Make sure to REALLY walk him and let him out the house.
- Local dog walkers are a great way for him to interact with other dogs and burn some energy.
- Many cities have dates or park times for dog/puppy meets.
- Play with him. Go outside and use balls, frisbees, or even a rope to pull tug of war on.
- You can offer to babysit other friends pets for a day or 2 and maybe exchange with them. That way he'll have a friend to play with and in exchange, you may get a day or 2 break for personal time.
More then anything, dogs are very social and want to be around you, so keep that in mind.

There is a line of toys called Kong. They are red and made of durable rubber. Each is designed to hold food or treats inside. The one I have is an odd shape and hollow. I fill it with treats like hot dog piece, cheese pieces, peanut butter, or all three. Then I freeze it. When he looks bored I pull it out of the freezer and give it to him. Sometimes it can take him an hour to get all the goodies out.

Well here are a couple of things I do with my dog.
1) take them on a walk
2)let them loose in a fenced area
3) fetch
4)kongs and stuff penut butter treats etc.
5)try teaching him/her to chase rabbits and go hunting
Some good toys would be
1) kong (blck is stonger then red)
2) ropes dogs love to play tug-a-war
3)some hard plasticy toys
4)tennis balls
When you put toys out rotate toys so he/she doesn't get bored
Hope this helps Pixel!

I understand your question is not dumb. I have a 4 year old who was expereincing the same thing, sorta bordem depression and because you love him, you as well get depressed and want to help him. Ok, my dog loves this, its a bouncy ball with little wholes in it (about the size of a dog treats) and you put a dog treat in it and he struggles with it for about an hour trying to get the treat out of the ball. It sounds cruel but my dog liked it. Visit your local pet store

there is a toy called a CUZ - you can buy good ones and bad ones (angel / devil) my dogs LOVE these- i dont know what kind of dog you have, but they come in different sizes.
also KONGS are great toys... they come in different sizes too. you can stuff them with kong treats, peanut butter, your dogs food, yogurt, cheese just about anything! - and for when they are outside, or on tile, you can freeze the kong and then its more popsicle like and takes longer for the dogs to get all the goodies out. I also put leftovers in them :)
have you tried playing with your pup outside with a frisbee? or a ball? tug of war?

What kind of dog is it? Does it have a medical condition that should be checked out by a vet if it is acting lethargic? Dogs should not act bored or disinterested unless they are sick or they are not getting enough exercise, good food and love. Go to the vet if your dog is acting differently and you are doing everything right.

A two year old dog is not a puppy. How about enrolling in a good obedience training class? That will socialize the dog and teach you about dog behavior.

The best thing you can do for your pup is take him for regular walks outside. I don't know what kind it is though, larger breeds enjoy walks much more than smaller breeds. But growing up around dogs, my parents and grandparents would take their dogs to trails in the woods every single day (save a few for stormy/really hot weather) and they love it. It gives them something to look forward to everyday, as well as good exercise and then they sleep and relax afterwards.
No toys or games can replace a walk for a dog.

Make sure he is being stimulated enough. Sometimes a dog needs more than toys. Try talking him for longer or more challanging walks. This could be good exercise for you and your dog!
