correlating verbs is one of the most difficult thing in italian...

first thing: wish is mostly translated with the present conditional of the verb volere (to want) (io vorrei, tu vorresti, egli vorrebbe, noi vorremmo, voi vorreste, essi vorrebbero).

second thing: now, here is the rule: if the subject (the one who does the action) of the first sentence is DIFFERENT from the subject of the second one, then you have to put CHE inbetween. in english it is often omitted: I wish THAT YOU were born...., followed by a congiuntivo imperfetto (this tense does not exists in english, if you are learning italian you could maybe know about it or know what it is).
if the subjects are the same, do not use any CHE and then just the infinitive tense, like "i wish to be born...", that is "vorrei essere nato"...
