Am I afraid of dying? No, but I am greatly troubled it by it. The idea that time is a finite resource that I am ever losing until finally I keel over and cease to exist is greatly dissatisfying. Life is hard and miserable and wretched with only occasional bright moments of happiness to distract us. I am not afraid of dying; I am afraid of not getting enough of life before it ends. I have arrived at the conclusion that we should live our lives with the same kind of attitude as people whose house is on fire: desperately. All the demands of family and society serve mainly to limit our access to happiness; these demands, however, do nothing to protect us from the total oblivion into which we all go at the end of life. Do what you must to pay the bills and meet your obligations, but mainly, do as you will in your pursuit of happiness. Go into debt and take that trip of a lifetime that you've always dreamed of; make love with the consensual partner that you want; join a band; whatever. But do it now, because you never know when your time is up...and dead is dead.

As someone who values intelligence, reason, and science; of course, I'm an atheist.

I am already dead. I have no religion. I am not confined to the ways of mankind, but rather to that of the under world-I dwell where no man has ever lived to tell the tales, in the minds of the living and the souls of the dead ... both underground and on the surface. I am PumpKinHead the kingpin.......

Death doesn't frighten me, as I know I'm saved by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. However, the WAY I die is a different matter; I don't wish to die in extreme pain for hours or days.

If you're a Christian and feel you would let God down and deny your faith if your life depended on it, here's a story Corrie Ten Boom recounted:

As a little girl, she had been discussing martyrs in the Bible with her clock-maker father.
'I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to be a martyr,' Corrie said.
'When we go to Amsterdam,' her father replied, 'do I give your ticket weeks in advance?'
'No, you give it to me just before we get on the train.'
'So it is with God: He gives us the strength we need WHEN we need it, not before.'

Amen!

No. I am an independant Baptist, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that when I breathe my last breath, I will awake in the arms of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ because I have placed by trust and faith in Him alone to save me.

Everyone (if they tell the truth) are afraid of dying. When you are young you cant image dying or anything bad happening to you. We live for or in the moment.

As we grow older and death becomes more real, our ideas change. Disciple of Christ.

A little fear of death keeps me from doing unnecessarily dangerous things, like driving recklessly.

Yeah, I'm a little afraid of dying, since I know this is the only life I get. However, I don't let it get me down too much. Because this is the only life I get, I need to make it worthwhile.

I'm not afraid of dying, but since this is the only life I have, I would like to stick around since it's not all bad.
