It depends on how you look at it. fluoride is a poisonous substance. This is an incontrovertible fact. There is even a poison control warning on the side of the tube.

Is it enough to make you drop dead from casual use?

Of course not.

As Lauren points out above, showing that some people give thought to the nature of the question before tossing out an answer, there are reports of a counterfeit Colgate toothpaste in four states now.

It's a fake colgate brand, trying to make money. Technically all toothpaste is poison, if you swallow it.

No. I did hear something about toothpastes that come from China, and that you shouldn't use them right now because some poisonous chemical got into them.
Oh and I agree with the above. Glister from Quixtar is great.

In large amounts. I asked this question to someone who worked in pharmaceuticals, and he assured me you would have to eat 4-5 tubes of toothpaste before you were poisoned. You could actually die too!!!!

yes and that's why we're all dead from using it...come on dude, of course it's not poison, maybe if you ate the whole bottle you'd get an upset stomach but you certainly wouldn't die unless you were allergic to an ingredient in the paste.
