I've been exploring religions lately, this is just to satisfy my curiousity, and a conversation with a pastor got me thinking. Which do you think will be the future of religions? We'll keep battling who's right and the strongest will survive or we'll try and find what we have in common than differences and we'll try to make peace with what we have in common. Which do you hope for?

I'm guessing it'll be religous war but I hope for religions to make peace with what they have in common.
I believe religion was created to do good. But it was the people later on who decided they were more right and started all these religious wars.

no, think about it. Religions nowadays have found a strong competitor in education, globalization and science. So they have to become more and more restricted in order for them not to dissolve or become obsolete (which most of them already are btw). They won't accept having anything in common with other religions, instead they will grow to be more orthodox and elitist, to the point they will not let their followers have certain access to *certain information* that could ruin their whole doctrine or philosophy.

The future of religions is definitevely war. An ugly and cruel war where there will be no winners. You cannot play with other people's faith, so noone can win. Different religions will always exist until all of a particular religion are wiped off the planet.

Honestly? We will always have religion. Man has a need to explain the unexplainable and someone will always want to believe in a higher being. Specific religions? I think Christianity is self destructing. It refuses to accept most science and the fundamentalist are pretty much scaring everyone off. We also live in a society that is about self and that doesn't jive with the whole I live only to serve God thing. I don't know about other faiths. I know people are going to Islam and Paganism in record numbers. I personally went the latter.

The future of religion is no religion. People are becoming more educated and thus becoming less religious. America is the only 1st world country left that's nearly this religious. Soon everyone will either be atheist or agnostic.

Christianity, (i.e., repentance of sin, the belief and acceptance in our hearts and lives that Jesus Christ is the only perfect, innocent, sinless begotten Son of God & that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, he lived on earth, taught The Gospel, performed miracles, fulfilled the prophesies of the Old Testament when Jesus gave His life in atonement for all the sins of all peoples for all times, and He snatched the keys of death and the grave from Hell, and was resurrected on the 3rd day, and now sits in Heaven, and will one day return for His Bride and then will battle the remnant on Earth and Satan who will attack Israel and Jesus will be victorious and personally see Satan, his angels, the Anti-Christ, the False Prophet, and those people (alive & dead) who rejected Jesus in life will be judged and then thrown into the Lake of Fire where they will remain for eternity.)

Christianity is NOT a religion. It is a belief in Jesus Christ and His teaching...period! The people who believe did, do and will believe this will come FROM (meaning beginnings/roots) from all nations, all tongues, all faiths, all walks of life (meaning rich, Jewish, LDS, Catholic, Baptist, Mormon, Presbyterian, Muslim, Jew, American, Russian, Africaan, Italian, Arab, poor, famous, Atheist, Agnostic, unknown, educated, illiterate, young, old, male and female, etc., etc.).

But no matter their innate and/or earlier legalistic beliefs or non-beliefs, they ALL will have CHOSEN to "forgetting all that came before" to repent their pasts, & to believe and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

They are the ONLY ones who had been members of whatever established religions or non-belief that will survive into eternity. All else will be destroyed by the Anti-Christ when he comes to power as the head of the one world government and then he will declare that he is God and any who will not bow down and worship him and receive the mark of the beast in their right hand or their forehead will be destroyed and any remaining establishment, government, & unbelieving people will be defeated/destroyed at the Battle of Armageddon by Jesus Christ in one hour.

Jesus Christ says, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, because there will be no peace in the world, until there is peace in Jerusalem."

I hope for a future in which all religions can unite in their mutual efforts to salvage mankind and help create a new and better civilization, without war, criminality, and insanity and help restore mutual understanding and self respect.

I think that eventually, if the human race isn't wiped out too soon, most people will become athiests, as that is the logical choice, and the remaining minority of theists will be eliminated by natural selection.

Well, there's one school of thought that the future of religions will cease to exist with the caveat that there will be one religion... period. The motto of the United Nations is : "One government, One money and One religion.
