I've also seen an increase in attire I would consider very inappropriate and suggestive. What happened to respect for the Mass and Jesus present in the eucharist? What happened to modesty?

slopoke, religion hasn't gone out the window. The church and religion that Jesus established is still here, alive and well, and offering the truth to all who are willing to accept it.

J.P. - Respect is indeed shown in the way we present ourselves. And going to church dressed like a stripper IS disrespectful to God. Also, God does pay attention to it because it's a sin to dress provocatively in the first place. But thanks anyway for your opinion.

Bump, apparently you didn't realize the question is for actual Catholics. And the trashy gossip you posted really was not needed, nor was it pertinent to the question. Also, all Christians sin and are tempted just like anyone else. The fact that you ignore the affairs and abuses that occur in other churches shows your ignorance. Now, go find some questions directed at haughty, judgmental people, as that would be right up your alley.

Tina, the Church would never change her morals and teachings in order to keep people coming to Mass. The Church will never change in order to please the world, for she is the pillar of truth.

1 Tim 3:15 "But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou ought to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth."

Granny, I think you're the first one to actually get it. You know my point exactly, thank you! God bless...

debbie2243, I don't even know what to say. I have to admit that I chuckled a bit when I realized that a Jehovah's Witness was trying to preach about the wrongs of the Catholic Church. You are in a cult, dear. You have even been brainwashed into believing that Jesus Christ is Michael the Archangel who came to earth in the flesh. Please...get yourself straightened out and seek true Christianity...then we'll talk.

Steven...apparently you got this question mixed up with a question about jehovah's witnesses. However, in response to your rant...IF jehovah's witnesses followed the true God of the Bible, then JESUS would be their God. And secondly, of course they dress nicely when visiting people's homes...since jehovah's witnesses have no truth to offer anyone, their appearance is an important part of the persuasion process.

Jeans, I can deal with. Although there's still enough Baptist restraint in me (as a convert) that I can't quite bring myself to wear them to Mass, I'm not bothered that others do. It's become quite the norm, especially at the evening Masses. But halter tops, tube tops and the like are very distracting; ditto the micro-short skirts, which baffle me anyway as they're obviously very difficult to manage while genuflecting and kneeling, why wear them to Mass if they're such trouble? Unless the young ladies so attired want to call attention to themselves ... gee, you think?

You knew you'd get some heat on this one along the lines of "God's dress code", didn't you? But they miss the point. It's not that God cares about what we wear; it's a matter of why we are at Mass. Wearing clothing that distracts others and draws attention to the wearer (of either sex, at any age) isn't inherently "wrong", but when deliberately flaunted at worship it is disrespectful. And that goes for the women who walk in with their furs and bling-bling as if on a fashion runway, as well.

Well, that's nothing compared to my ex-best friend's dad. He was a deacon in their Catholic church, but was having affairs with many women, juggling women within the congregation. He caused the demise of his marriage and then married one of the wh*res he was committing adultery with.

His daughter turned out to be a drug addict and married an illegal alien who used her for his green card. Now after three children later, three knuckleheaded ill-mannered boys, she is alone, unmarried and was running a daycare center from her home. Being a drug addict this does not work, eh? She lost her license, went to jail and the bad doings of parents can pass off to their children, but when the children become of age, teenagers and adults, they are responsible for their actions. Trouble is, she had such a great example from her dad.

Catholics are always doing things contrary to Godly standards. Then they go to mass like you state, very casually dressed, showing no respect for their Creator; but that's just because they really don't believe. The go out, get drunk, join the militaries of the world, participate in political matters --- all these things are detestable to God. Catholism witholds falsities, and is not a true religion. It is a no wonder it produces bad fruit.

There are many other so-called Christian religions that prove to be false also, but there can only be one truth. Do you know what that is? Hint: Not Islam.

Bless you, But BLAH....BLAH...what have you done here to change anything today?? Nothing.

I am not Catholic but I used to be. I have seen there are many things wrong with the Catholic church which reflects and trickles down to it's congregation.

I was discouraged from learning the bible although I went to catholic school.....My brother and I also went to a Catholic boarding school. My brother was an alter boy. He has stories of his own.

At one time I thought of becoming a nun until I found out all about them.

I will not share the horror stories but there were many.

Dress codes show their lack of respect for God. Their lax way of looking at gross sins is also disrespect. Sin today, go to confession, have the wafer tomorrow.

I was a child in the church and I didn't have to be lured with casual dress or rock music. And another thing...The Catholic church talks about war and politics and who to endorse as elected officials.

The Catholic church is in bed with the world. They promote pagan holidays instead of pure worship.

Get out of her my people! God Commanded!
If you do not want to share with her in her plagues and receive her punishments.

I think that it is due to the media. People have decided that so many things are now "acceptable" and many of those things are contrary to our beliefs. Another problem is that some families that come to mass should not even bother to be there. They talk and disrespect God and everyone around them the entire mass.
Clothes are just one of the many things that have changed in our society.

The Best Dressed people that Claim to be TRUE CHRISTIANS are Jehovah's CHRISTIAN Witnesses ! !

JW's are not only the Best Dressed People who go to Church; BUT ALSO are Well Dressed when going to people's homes.

All this is a REFLECTION on the FACT that JW'S represent the Bible's ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD; namely JEHOVAH

You look at the people and worry about their clothing.

God looks at the people and worries about their hearts.

Respect is something one feels, not wears. After all, didn't God tell people to come as they are?

Be more Godly.

i have been forced into catholocism by my parents which most people would agree is pretty messed up. anyway, because of this i would rather not be there, which leads to me not dressing myself up for it. most people just dont want to be bothered any more than they have to be.
