Is there anywhere in the Gospels written that Jesus Christ is God? Has he ever mentioned that he was God? I recall reading that he said he was the son of God. Unless I am mistaken I think I read somewhere that Jesus Christ was God. But other people are telling me that there is nowhere in the Bible that read that he was God. If there is please give me details where to find it thank you.

In the Gospel there are many references that can lead one to believe that Jesus and God are one and that Jesus is the son of God. Everyone has their own perception. Remember, the Bible was written by different writers over a long period of time, especially the Old Testament. There are 1,300 languages and dialects into which the Holy Bible, in its entirety or in portions, has been translated from. So, knowing this you may want to do some research to find out the true name of the person you call God and Jesus. Maybe then you will have one answer to your question without perception.

Food for thought!

No, Jesus is God's Son, and never claimed to be otherwise.

John 8:58, in a more accurate translation reads: "Jesus said to them: 'Most truly I say to YOU, Before Abraham came into existence, I have been.'"

John 10:30 shows that they are one in purpose. If you read the following verses (31-38) you can see that Jesus wasn't claiming to be God. He said in verse 36: "do YOU say to me whom the Father sanctified and dispatched into the world, ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said, I am God’s Son?"

John 14:9 "He who has seen me has seen the Father also." Jesus is here pointing out that everything he did while on the earth is exactly what his Father would have done had He come to earth. He perfectly imitated Him, thereby setting an incredible example for us to follow.

Once again we have to look at the following verses to gain an understanding of what Jesus meant. Read verses 10 - 21 and you'll see that Jesus makes a definite distinction between himself and God. Particularly in verse 10 where Jesus says: "The things I say to YOU men I do not speak of my own originality; but the Father who remains in union with me is doing his works." If Jesus was God, the things he was teaching WOULD be of his own originality.

The trinity doctrine is false.

"The New Encyclopædia Britannica says: “Neither the word Trinity, nor the explicit doctrine as such, appears in the New Testament, nor did Jesus and his followers intend to contradict the Shema in the Old Testament: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord’ (Deut. 6:4). . . . The doctrine developed gradually over several centuries and through many controversies. . . . By the end of the 4th century . . . the doctrine of the Trinity took substantially the form it has maintained ever since.”—(1976), Micropædia, Vol. X, p. 126.

The New Catholic Encyclopedia states: “The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective.”—(1967), Vol. XIV, p. 299."

He did no longer reject their worship or obeisance using fact he knew that his father Jehovah had appointed him as King.John 18:36,37 In historical situations people could do obeisance to any human king. As for Thomas saying My Lord and My God. That replaced into in straightforward terms an exclamation of excitement or amazement. If somebody which you enjoyed very lots could come to you back from the ineffective you may in all probability touch that individual and say O My God Oh My God Oh My Lord Oh My Lord. it may be some thing marvelous to have faith, yet yet it replaced into happening desirable in front of your eyes. as properly word what the final verse of that comparable financial disaster says John 20:31 yet those have been written down which you will have faith that Jesus is.Is what ? God ? No that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God.

You've hit on an interesting question. You've heard from those who argue for yes, but there are those who also suggest that Christ never said "I am God." - they lean on Paul's statement that "even Christ did not think that equality with God was something to be grasped." These theologians believe that Christ shed his divinity during His short stint as a human.

This is one of the newest theologies coming up today.

-personally, this is not my belief, but I thought it should be shared.

When before the Sanhedrin, Jesus answered the high priest's question, " Are you the Messiah, the son of the Blessed One?" Then Jesus answered, "I AM"

By saying this, we understand in historical and religious context that Jesus was answering the high priest's question of are you equal with God? or as we understand it today, are you God?

He claims here to be the great I AM, who throughout the scriptures is God.

Jesus was trying to teach us that we are ALL part of God. Since God created the universe and everything in it, there is no way we can really be separated from God. We only live in the illusion of separation, that is the EGO, or Edging God Out, or origionlal sin or racial error or what ever you want to call it.

All sin comes from a perceived separation of us and God.

I can't wait to see how many thumbs down I get for this statement. Keep 'em coming guys, that is how I know I'm on the right track.

IN John 10:30. Jesus said, "I and my father are one," which really got the religious leaders in a huff because they said He was proclaiming to be God. When Jesus was praying for future believer's, right before His crucifixion, He prays, " That they all may be one; as, thou father, art in me, and I in thee." The awesomeness of the trinity is way beyond man's comprehension, but just because it is bigger than we are doesn't mean it's not true. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Three individual purposes, but one Spirit.

Jesus said "Before Abraham, I Am". This was a direct reference to being God.

He also said He and the Father were one.

He allowed Himself to be worshiped. If He wasn't God, this would have been a blasphemous omission. Whenever angels were worshiped, they were careful to forbid it, saying they were only fellow servants of God.

The Bible says there is only one God. If Jesus was 'another god' but not God, that would violate the word. There would be a contradiction.
