I think it's a given that there are certain large evils in this world, famine, war, destitution, terrorism and suchlike.

But what about closer to home?

Isn't it time that religions set aside their differences for their gods and beliefs, and worked towards a common goal of aiding humanity rather than dividing it?

I think a large amount of people have lost sight of what a lot of religion entails - kindness and giving to others.

Just think that if for one morning of each month, every single muslim, christian, jehovah (etc etc) gave up worship and devoted it to doing something for others what could be achieved? Caring for old people? Facilities for youths, coaches for sport, or even just lending a hand to your friend.

Are religious followers so blinded by their own need to get to their utopia, that they forget some of basic fundamental principles along the way? Do you think it's time to believe more in humanity, and a little less in omnipotent entities?

Isnt it a terrible sign that the majority of religious people here are more concerned about their own path to heaven, and the acceptance of other faiths, than they are about enhancing humanity?

What would your god say about that?

It is however, great to see some of the more open believers and athesists agreeing on something for once!

I think I'm just going to bang my head against a wall. The cure for the worlds ill's is not to just chuck away all the other religions and go christian!

Islam does and it is a comprehensive religion. Problem is no one wants to follow it as they really should. We all need to be better Muslims.

I think that is a brilliant idea. Did you know though, most wars were caused by religion and so was suffering. I think instead of giving up one day a week to do something good for the community, the powerful religious leaders, i.e. the Pope and Archbishops and other religious representatives should join forces and consult the governments and stuff, I think that would be a lot more beneficial to the world.
Not saying that the little old ladies/ mans dinner is in no way beneficial or important to the world :D

By the way One cross, not every one is a christian or believes in christ, so we are NOT all representatives of him

According to the Book of Revelation, All the Kings of the Earth and The powers will give homage to the whore dressed in purple and scarlet and they will drink the wine of her fornication.

This is being realised as many churches (including methodist, protestants) are realising the power of ther Roman Catholic Church. Times Magazine also showed that the Methodists are NOW praying HAIL MARY when usually they called this blasphemy.

Concerning your question: The churches are uniting. All they need is for the World Power (political) to give power to the RCC and the BEAST will be complete. If you're worried about war, wait when the BEAST takes over, The 144000 Jews will be slained, The Christians who don't believe in TRINITY will be slained and they can NEVER buy nor sell.

The End is nigh....now you know!!!!!!!

Religion waters down humanity. By placing all power in a God there is something lost within the human element.
Im not saying that religious theory is wrong...who knows. But maybe it makes people lose sight of the fact that maybe just maybe this God gave humans some degree of power to change things. I find it ironic that Christianity preaches about free will when it comes to those things done that are bad...yet not with anything good. LOL to me thats like saying that only one side of a magnet works. If we have free will to do something bad (like eat fruit froma tree) wouldnt we have the same free will to make change...to help people? And in a essence by the works of that free will would we in an essence have some degree of power?
Well I can write an essay about this I think. Long story short I agree with you 100%. I really wish the bible would have a verse in it that went something along the lines of :
"Put your trust in God, Now get off your A-s-s and do something"

ever thought that actually religious people do spend a lot of time helping out.

in the south west of england, we have camps set up where kids and youth leaders spend a week cleaning places up, helping the elderly and just caring for people.

on a weekly basis i help run 2 clubs to help children and adults alike. and there are many like that.

may i ask what you do on the sunday morning when i'm in church praising the God i love?

maybe asleep in bed?

relaxing with the family?

i think it is unfair to ask religious people to help out instead of worshipping God, when nobody really helps anybody much in this world. instead of going to the pub with your friends, why dont you go and care for some kids or the elderly?

yes religious people need to help more but so does everyone, why should it just be left to us?

It is difficult for all the worlds religions to embrace the idea of banding together because so many of them think they are the only truthful religion when in fact that every religion is a way to divinity. Once all the religions except that fact, which probably can never happen, will we be able to band together has a whole and do away with all the worlds suffering. I hate to say it but its the worlds religious fundamentalist that are hampering our growth as a species and society. Wonderful question.

The Bible is strickly against interfaith. God is a God exacting exclusive devotion. He will not accept any worship other than that which he has outlined in the Holy Bible. Many today pervert Gods word and teach False things.

Prophet John you are wrong. I in no way want to be part of a group that includes false worship. Why were so many destroyed when they made the image of the golden calf? they thought they were doing something good, right? wrong! they were not serving God the way he commanded. Your following the thinking and traditions of man rather than God and it shows.

that would take someone, or a group of people to organizer a movement on a small scale. Locally, perhaps, in a city that has a broad range of religious groups. Find a cause that all support, like a charity project, and gather as many people from all different religons as possible. Eventually that will overflow.

From your writing, it is obviously shown that it is NOT the matter of the religion, but the followers.

I agree with your statement saying "...a lot of religion entails - kindness and giving to others."

A real follower of Chirst, is one who imitate Him to love the enemy ... ...

A real follower of buddha, is one who sees everyone as equal ... ...

A real follower of Muslim, is one who seeks the peace ... ...

It is not how much you shout in front of the crowd that indicates you are being religious. But rather, it is HOW wide/broad your heart being able to accept others and love others that determines.

Religion should not be a formal practice, but rather, it has to be something that leads us into unity with the universe (that includes everything and everyone)

Hopefully my opinion here is helpful to every true follower.

You think they don't reach out to others and condemn them for spending time learning how to improve. That's interesting, especially if you have no active part in helping as well. It would widen most people's worlds to actually do some research into the many types of assistance "religious" people offer to everyone else, regardless of their religion. Yet so many refuse and abuse that help then people like you condemn those offering help for the lack of improvement.

The trouble is they all believe different things. It's like getting them to agree that a certain thing is green. Some see it as blue or red and some are colour-blind altogether.
They will never agree.
