They cannot debate their religion,period.
As soon as you question them on it and they can't answer they always fall back on
"god can do anything", "you don't understand" ,"that's out of context" or some other such weak excuse

If you know someone who has memorized the entire Bible, I would truly want to meet him or her.

Some people who study the Bible also make an effort to memorize certain verses. Others are just so familiar with all of its books and what can be found in each that they can recall "hmm, there's a verse in Romans that addresses this ...", and find it fairly quickly. There are also reference books called concordances (some of these are several times thicker than the Bible itself!) that are helpful in finding verses dealing with a particular subject.

As memorizing the Bible would be a daunting, life-long task for most, it's unlikely that anyone would try to do the same with encyclopedias -- but if you feel up to the task, I'll cheer you on.

Let me ask you a question.

As a newly born child, can you speak fluent English? My guess is no. Why? You need to learn for yourself and are taught by others with more experience. You learn how to pronounce and spell words and even put them together to form sentences. Does this process happen overnight? Again, I would venture to say no.

My children are learning to speak better and better each day and are quick to pick things up that they have no understanding of. As a parent it is my responsiblity to teach them right and wrong and that applies to the English language as well. Much the same with Christians. We need to learn the Bible and come to understand it but it takes time. Not all Christians are able to absorb so much information as quickly as others. That causes some riffs and misunderstandings.

I'll tell you what. If you want to "debate the 'truth' of my religion", bring it on. I can be as intelligent as the next guy and if I do not know something, I will admit it.

And for those that think I am being proud or arrogant, I am confident in who I am. That's all.

You're right, because no Christian could be as intellegent as you. Oh, please teach us wise one, since we can barely comprehend your complicated question... What give you the idea that no Christians are intellegent? Some of the world's greatest inventors, architects, scholars, engineers, and leaders all had being Christian in common. Since I'm sure you have memorized an encyclopedia, you probably know the way to be "intellegent" is not just the memorization of facts, it's the ability to critically think and analyze. Like Edison who learned science attempting to disprove every principle he learned in a text book (who by the way, was a Christian). Grow up and stop generalizing people.
IN RESPONSE: Fine, then let's have an "intellegent" debate... what do you want to know?

Wow..lol. I don't memorize the bible and if i ever "spew" out a verse, that just means I've been studying it and I know it by heart...you don't have to memorize anything to debate the truth about your religion. if you have been doing your studying and what not, and you think you're pretty knowledgeable on it, I don't see the problem with spitting out anything concerning your religion..

"if they don't memorize...."
Bible reference books, computer bible programs (either to look up or search; I prefer e-sword myself), online bibles, books about the bible, etc.

And I doubt most entries in either a dictionary or an encyclopedia would come up in a debate. I don't think I've had to know what a "somersault" was or the annual rainfall in the U.S.
